The ballast was largely washed away. And what remains was ruined in a way that means it will have to be replaced.

Look at the photos of the tracks. See where the crushed stone is missing? That's called "ballast" and it's needed to help hold the tracks and ties in place, but also to insulate them from the ground.

Look at the photo with the group standing along the wall. See the brown line above most of our heads? That was the water level.

This morning, I met LRT Stage 2 staff to look at the July 1 flood damage at Moodie Station. What I saw, and what I heard, shocked me.

Last fall, the Ontario Government banned Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras, including in school zones. Through a new $210M Road Safety Initiatives Fund, Ottawa has applied for funding for new safety measures—including 4 sets of speed cushions near Bell HS and Our Lady of Peace School.
