Day off so it's a beach episode at the lake. Reading Calvino's The Path to the Spider's Nest which contains the seed of leftist online discourse to come. "A Trotskyist, that's what they call him 'What does it mean?' he asks. 'I'm not sure what it means myself,' says Giglia"
What D&D class am I? (This photo taken while I was playing D&D in the Italian countryside a fortnight ago)
There were no beach umbrellas left at the gay beach out past Ostia in Rome when we got here so we were forced to seek shade in the beach bar.
Florence mentioned on stage last night in Milan that it was the 17th birthday of Florence+ The Machine debut Lungs. An amazing gig, Florence as a High Priestess leading us into ecstatic & cathartic Mysteries. There's no words other than thank you @pneumismatist.bsky.social for coming with me.
First support act is Cliffords from Cork so there's a Saoirse don Phalaistín Palestinian flag that's just gone up on stage in Milan. 🇵🇸
Oh the support act is Manic Street Preachers which is a lovely bonus, none of that was in the gig information when I bought the tickets.
Roma 🚄 Milano bound for Florence+the Machine gig this afternoon. I just love the Frecciarossa Trenitalia service. Makes Iarnród Éireann look like a horse drawn carriage service.
Have left the relative coolness of the Italian mountains to return to Rome for a few days. A lot more mugginess but bearable. Had some nice drinks at a kiosk before going back to bed.
Escaping the heat & humidity of Rome in the mountains in La Marche for a weekend of D&D with friends. Had a beautiful morning walk by some waterfalls in the woods here after coffee. Still hitting 30C but more bearable in the shade here.
Walking this much as a ginger in 33 C heat means I deserve this Spritz Campari aperitivo.
Not a dark drink but when you see an Irn Bru craft beer you buy it. You'd have to, to honour our Scottish cousins.
Walking the prom. It'd be a windy day in Salthill even by winter standards, never mind June. In all my years in Galway I've never seen a lóg washed up on the rocks in Summer.
🍆 Sebastiane 🏹 🍸The Thin Man sequels 🥃 Lots of Roman soldiers wrestling naked under the Mediterranean sun but it's in Latin so it's *art* and boozy comedic detective goings on. I feel the later thin man films were a bit weaker though. #LastFourWatched #Letterboxd #LetterboxdFriday #Filmsky
