3/4: In fact, PUH-LENTY of progressive policies have been proposed for DECADES. But the 1965 Congress, that passed Medicare, along w/many other policies (Social Security, ESEA, etc.) had 33 more Ds than Rs in the Senate, & 151(!) more Ds than Rs in the House... (...guess we need more Dems 🤔)

1/4: FOR THE RECORD, Medicare 4ALL is not a new concept. In fact, Harry Truman proposed a federal healthcare plan back in 1945-6 (the same year we defeated fascism, nazism, and imperialism). — & HE was called a socialist back then. "Floating all boats" has ALWAYS scared republicans, apparently.

Look at her. Speaker Emeritus Melissa Hortman was like so many unsung state legislators we know & have at our meetings. She had a wry sense of humor, was earnest, hardworking, rooted in service. Effective. & cared. Our honoring & love goes to her family & Minnesota grieving this profound loss.
