Tsai Ming-liang's The Wayward Cloud has such an interesting flavor. It's a surrealist-dry comedy-drama-erotica-musical, which you'd think "that's a lot of genres!" but the film purposefully uses it to club the viewer's head over and over. It's blended so well & the ending was a perfect bow on top.
This template popped up in a server so I thought it'd be fun to try. Here's a few games I think are neat and don't often see mentioned. (STRAFTAT and Devil Daggers are borderline cheating but I recommend them too much not to include)

Happy/calm music usually has the opposite effect on me but I really am digging Miharu Koshi and Haruomi Hosono's Swing Slow. It's so airy smooth while the discordant noise, notes and variety of instruments add such a nice odd texture. It feels like trying to hold onto a fleeting dream.

The Magic Words That Always Protect! 'Unfortunately, Only Bad Things Can Happen'
Kyusaku Yumeno's Hell in a Bottle has a pretty cool structure! It's a short story that isn't too crazy in itself, but it's cut up into three bottles that can be rearranged to make different outcomes. Towoji Honojiro's 2013 edition art is gorgeous, though sometimes felt unfitting to the story.
Sátántangó watched! It was my first long-form movie and quite a marathon, but I really enjoyed it. Each scene felt like dropping a new ingredient into a tea cup, and when it's done I get to enjoy stirring and sipping it for a long time.
I finally watched Terminator 1 & 2 for the first time and surprise, they were awesome. The genre switch from horror to action was a cool way to get everything out of both movies without becoming redundant. But most importantly now I know the context to the fucking skeleton explosion gif.
Also huge props to Lambadelta's actor, she's putting her all in these scenes
(Watching the Umineko EP5 stageplay) I love that in theater you can just Do This, for a scene of a person getting blackmailed. They even form the shape of an eye
Does anyone else remember the windows 98 version of Midnight Play by Kveta Pacovska? There's only three videos of it I can find, but if not for that I'd almost assume I hallucinated having this game as a kid. Either way fun and unnerving art.
I don't think this was shown in the video, but since I ran across it in my files here's a temp menu background I made for ENGINE ANGEL back in October.
I still think Umineko's best set up and payoff is reading 7 hours of rich people arguing about inheritance and the bubble economy while only soft elegant strings & piano play, and then on the 8th hour you hear this:
