AS Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP | Arweinydd Seneddol Plaid Cymru Westminster Leader 🏴
Labour’s Immigration and Asylum Bill fails to tackle the real issues within the system. It undermines people’s rights, including those of innocent children. We need a controlled and compassionate system that helps people integrate into our communities. That’s why Plaid Cymru voted against it.
Dyw Mesur Mewnfudo a Lloches Llafur ddim yn mynd i’r afael â’r problemau go iawn o fewn y system. Mae’n tanseilio hawliau pobl, gan gynnwys plant diniwed. Mae angen system deg sy’n cael ei rheoli arnom sy’n helpu pobl i integreiddio i’n cymunedau. Dyna pam y pleidleisiodd Plaid Cymru yn ei erbyn.
Mae’r newyddion am lofruddiaeth Ann Widdecombe yn erchyll. Ni ddylai unrhyw AS fyw mewn ofn a rhaid i fesurau fod yn eu lle i'w gwarchod. Mae ymgysylltu'n uniongyrchol ag etholwyr yn rhan allweddol o’n democratiaeth - rhaid i ni gydweithio i amddiffyn y gwerthoedd hyn.
The news of Ann Widdecombe’s murder is deeply shocking. No MP should live in fear of violence, and safeguards must be in place to protect them. Engaging directly with constituents is a key part of our democracy and we must work together to protect these values.
Labour's 2026 manifesto committed to reforming the Barnett Formula and create a needs-based funding system for Wales. But yesterday they joined Reform and the Tories to vote against Plaid Cymru’s call for fair funding. They've learnt nothing - it's party before country yet again.
I’ve called on the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to conduct a formal investigation into whether Nigel Farage breached the MP Code of Conduct, specifically regarding the gifts and benefits he received from George Cottrell in the 12 months leading up to the 2024 General Election.
Heddiw, cadarnhaodd Starmer y bydd cyllidebau'n cael eu torri i ariannu'r DIP. Er mor bwysig yw'r cynllun, ni ddylai ddod ar draul gwasanaethau cyhoeddus yng Nghymru. Dyna pam mae Plaid Cymru yn galw am bwerau benthyca cryfach i Gymru i amddiffyn ein cymunedau rhag toriadau niweidiol y DU.
Today, Starmer confirmed budgets will be cut to fund the Defence Investment Plan. However important the plan is, it shouldn’t come at the expense of Welsh public services. That's why Plaid Cymru is calling for stronger borrowing powers to protect Wales from damaging UK spending cuts.
Mae Cymru wedi talu’n ddrud am fethiannau Brexit. Mae'n bryd bod yn onest ynglŷn â’r manteision o gysylltiadau agosach ag Ewrop. Rhaid i Lywodraeth nesaf y DU ymgyrchu i ailymuno â'r farchnad sengl a'r undeb tollau er mwyn sefydlogrwydd, mwy o gyfleoedd ac economi iachach.
Wales has paid a heavy price for Brexit’s failures. It’s time to be honest about the benefits of closer ties with Europe. The next UK Government must campaign to rejoin the single market and the customs union for the sake of stability, more opportunities and a healthier economy.
Port Talbot has already been the subject of this UK Government’s double standards when it comes to steel. Again today, they failed to guarantee that Welsh steel sites would receive a fair share of funding which risks the future of yet more Welsh jobs and livelihoods.
Mae gweithfeydd dur Port Talbot eisoes wedi cael eu trin yn eilradd gan Lywodraeth y DU. Eto heddiw, ni wnaethon nhw gadarnhau y byddai safleoedd dur Cymru yn derbyn cyfran deg o gyllid sy'n peryglu dyfodol hyd yn oed mwy o swyddi a bywoliaethau Cymru.
Mae Plaid Cymru yn credu bod diffygion yn y ffordd y mae dyfarniad y Goruchaf Lys yn cael ei weithredu, yn enwedig o ran darparu canllawiau clir ac ymarferol ar gyfer gwasanaethau sy'n cefnogi pobl drawsrywiol. Rhaid i ganllawiau fod yn glir, a chynhwysol gan gynnal urddas a pharch i bawb.
Plaid Cymru believe there are shortcomings in the way the Supreme Court’s ruling translates into practice, especially in terms of providing clear and practical guidelines for services that support transgender people. Guidelines must be clear, inclusive and maintain dignity and respect for everyone.
It is obvious that Epstein’s victims weren’t on the radar of the boys’ club in No.10. No matter how many times the Labour Government tries, this can never be justified. Er gwaethaf ymdrechion Llafur, nid oes modd cyfiawnhau’r penderfyniad hwnnw.
Mae Llafur yn gwrthod derbyn bod yr honiadau yn erbyn Starmer ar saga Mandelson yn ddigon difrifol am ymchwiliad. Mae hyn yn sarhad i ddioddefwyr Epstein. Rhaid i'r Prif Weinidog wynebu’r cyhuddiadau a dangos nad oes ganddo unrhyw beth i'w guddio.
Labour are refusing to accept that the allegations made against Starmer on the Mandelson saga are serious enough to be investigated. This is an insult to Epstein’s victims. The PM must face scrutiny and show that he has nothing to hide.
Labour is failing to act with urgency on the energy crisis. Plaid Cymru MPs today call for action: extend support beyond the Ofgem price cap, more support for off-grid households, tackle exploitative energy profits, and break the link between electricity and gas to cut bills.
Fantastic to be part of Together Alliance’s March Against the Far-Right today in London. A huge turnout for hope and humanity, and against hate. I’m proud that Plaid Cymru is leading the opposition to Reform UK’s division in Wales 🏴
The UK Government’s delay in tackling foreign interference, in light of the case of Reform’s former leader in Wales, may mean the damage is already done ahead of the Senedd election Why this matters 👇
Keir Starmer has granted the US access to British bases for ‘defensive’ strikes on Iranian missile sites. Given Trump’s erratic nature, we must ensure that clear limits are upheld and that the UK isn't pulled deeper into a conflict that remains unresolved.
Cyfiawnhaodd Trump ymosod ar Iran gan bod trafodaethau ar niwclear yn 'methu'. Ond doedd dim tystiolaeth glir o unrhyw fygythiad uniongyrchol, ac roedd y DU yn gwybod hyn o fod yn rhan o'r trafodaethau. Roedd ymosodiadau'r UDA ac Israel yn anghyfreithlon - a phobl gyffredin sy'n talu'r pris.
Trump justified striking Iran as talks on nuclear were ‘failing’. But there was no clear evidence of any imminent threat, and the UK knew this from being part of discussions. The US-Israeli strikes were illegal and unjustified - and civilians are the ones now paying the price.
Scrapping jury trials will do nothing to fix the structural issues facing courts in Wales. Outdated systems, crumbling buildings and stagnant pay are causing these huge backlogs. Reforms are needed, but not at the cost of our fundamental public rights.
As Trump’s war in Iran sends energy costs skyrocketing, Reform UK are cheering him on. Backing an unlawful war abroad while ignoring its costs at home shows just how out of touch Farage is. While Reform are licking Trump’s boots, Plaid Cymru will focus on the cost of living.
Reform's ex-leader in Wales was recently sentenced for accepting Russian bribes. Today, 3 men have been arrested on suspicion of spying for China – 2 of them in Wales - who reportedly have close associations with Labour. Rhaid gwarchod ein democratiaeth rhag ymyrraeth dramor.
Mae newid ar droed. Mae sefydliad San Steffan bellach yn gweld Plaid Cymru fel bygythiad. When the Westminster establishment rolls out the tired old clichéd attacks on Plaid Cymru as ‘separatists’, I say: bring it on. We are doing something right. Amdani! 🏴
The election in May will be a choice between two contrasting futures. Tolerance or division. Progress or decay. Humanity or indifference. Plaid Cymru or Reform. Inspirational speech by Rhun ap Iorwerth 🏴
Peter Mandelson’s arrest is a huge moment. But UK Government must not use it to delay the release of papers. What the Prime Minister and advisers knew at the time of the appointment goes to the heart of the PM’s judgement. The arrest must not stall transparency.
Starmer knew of Mandelson’s close links to Epstein when he first appointed him. His shockingly poor judgement is an insult to the victims of Epstein’s horrific sex offences. Overprivileged elites have been shielded by the system, undermining public trust and failing victims.
