(1/2) My staff was proud to volunteer at the 9th Annual Backpack Supply Drive this afternoon, packing 270 backpacks with school supplies. As the largest school supply drive in the nation, this incredible effort helps ensure students head back to school ready to learn.

I’m excited to rejoin my colleagues from across the country as a member of The Hunt Institute’s Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows Program. This bipartisan group of state executive leaders and legislators is focused on policy solutions to K-12 and higher education’s biggest challenges.

I sat down with members of SEIU Virginia 512 and 32BJ SEIU to discuss their fight for collective bargaining rights, access to quality healthcare, and workplace protections. All of Virginia’s workers deserve a seat at the table.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Senator Janet Howell. The first woman in VA’s history to serve as Chair of the Senate Finance & Appropriations Committee, she was a deeply committed public servant & a strong voice on the issues that impact our communities.

Virginia continues to be a national leader in the aerospace industry. I was honored to join the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton. This new 25,000-square-foot facility will support NASA’s world-class research.
