I’m taking the Energy Costs Listening Tour across Virginia to hear directly from you about what the proposed Dominion–NextEra takeover could mean for your utility bills and our energy future. Decisions this consequential should happen with those will live with the consequences.
Happy Birthday to Governor Abigail Spanberger! Your historic campaign energized Virginians and ushered in a new chapter of leadership for our Commonwealth. Every day, you continue to fight for working families, strengthen our communities, and expand opportunity across Virginia.
(1/2) Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday starts tomorrow! From Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, Virginians can save on qualifying purchases, including clothing, footwear, school supplies, and hurricane and emergency preparedness items.
(1/2) My staff was proud to volunteer at the 9th Annual Backpack Supply Drive this afternoon, packing 270 backpacks with school supplies. As the largest school supply drive in the nation, this incredible effort helps ensure students head back to school ready to learn.
I’m excited to rejoin my colleagues from across the country as a member of The Hunt Institute’s Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows Program. This bipartisan group of state executive leaders and legislators is focused on policy solutions to K-12 and higher education’s biggest challenges.
I enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a keynote & participant in the 19th American Telugu Association-ATA Conference in Baltimore. This celebration of the Indian diaspora & discussions about women & youth empowerment, business, healthcare, & more, were all powerful.
Congratulations to Virginia’s Democratic Nominees! We focus now on November and on restoring leadership in Washington.
Congratulations to our CD-09 Democratic nominee, Joy Powers! It is time for the residents of Southwest and Southside to have someone representing them on critical matters of health care access, economic opportunity, and quality public education.
Congratulations to our Democratic nominee in CD-01, Shannon Taylor! As a Commonwealth’s Attorney, Shannon has been a strong fighter for our communities, making them safer and stronger. In Congress, she’ll do the same.
Congratulations to our Democratic nominee in CD-05, Congressman Tom Perriello! Congressman Perriello has a proven record of protecting affordable health care access, expanding economic power for Virginians, and supporting working people. He is the champion we need representing CD-05.
Congratulations to Congressman Don Beyer, our CD-08 Democratic nominee! Congressman Beyer has been a consistent fighter for all Virginians and it’s time to send him back to Washington this November.
Congratulations to our CD-02 Democratic nominee, Congresswoman Elaine Luria! In Congress, she will continue her strong record of upholding and defending the American values of democracy and justice.
As polls close across the Commonwealth, I want to thank our many election workers and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this election possible.

I sat down with members of SEIU Virginia 512 and 32BJ SEIU to discuss their fight for collective bargaining rights, access to quality healthcare, and workplace protections. All of Virginia’s workers deserve a seat at the table.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Senator Janet Howell. The first woman in VA’s history to serve as Chair of the Senate Finance & Appropriations Committee, she was a deeply committed public servant & a strong voice on the issues that impact our communities.
Virginia continues to be a national leader in the aerospace industry. I was honored to join the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton. This new 25,000-square-foot facility will support NASA’s world-class research.

I was delighted to meet with Sportable today & hear about the incredible work the organization is doing to expand access to adaptive, inclusive sports throughout Virginia. Mandy, a member of the USA Wheelchair Rugby Team, is training for the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby World Championships in Brazil. (1/2)
It was wonderful to join Delegate Rae Cousins, Richmond School Board Member Cheryl Burke, & community members for the 3rd Annual One World, One Humanity Heritage Festival. Events such as these remind us of the rich diversity within our Metro Richmond Area. Thank you to Masjid Bilal for hosting.
(2/2) Hosted by Chesterfield County schools, the big event invited children and families to celebrate literacy; every child was able to select 5 books each for their very own personal library. Thank you to everyone who is helping inspire the next generation of readers, thinkers, and dreamers.
(2/3) These books explore our regional history, identity, democracy, and the stories that shape our Commonwealth and our country. I hope you’ll read along with me this summer, and I look forward to continuing the conversation when we gather this fall.
Enjoying an Ale-8-One on its 100th birthday just like @govandybeshear.bsky.social. Thank you, Kentucky, for your hospitality and for hosting our annual Council of State Governments Southern Legislative Conference.
On Friday, I joined Nick Minock with 7News DC to discuss why Virginians deserve answers before this proposal acquisition, valued at over $64 billion, moves forward and why protecting ratepayers, workers, and the public interest must come first.
(2/2) As this process moves forward, my focus remains on protecting consumers and ensuring that any decision serves the long-term interests of the Commonwealth.
Our 2026 Governor’s Fellows are a dedicated & talented group. I was delighted to join these inspiring young leaders today for a conversation about public service. I appreciate their curiosity & passion for making a difference, & I look forward to seeing all they accomplish.
Yesterday, I joined thousands in Colonial Williamsburg to celebrate our nation’s semiquincentennial. What a beautiful reminder of this country’s history, our present moment, and our collective dreams for the future. Happy 250th Birthday, America. America. Made in Virginia.
