Hera, checking out the dead tree she just cut down for me. Clever cat. #caturday (though a day late)
After a hard, hot day clearing a neglected area of the garden full of rocks, ivy, concrete, and levelling it, I settle down in the shade with a beer, magazine, & music. But Some Damn Cat thinks it’s for her!
Done. And, yes, there should be what looks like two pathetic saplings
Today I’m clearing up this part of the ditch/stream as it is dry. It’s not quite so warm and I’m in the shade, so it’s not so bad. The cats refuse to help and have slunk inside for a kip
It’s cooled down a little, but I still need to be in the shade as I’ve got my chainsaw gear on. Time to section up some of these branches, after all it’s looking like being below 30 for a while. We might need to fire up the log burner…
Our local water company has joined those intoducing hosepipe bans. They are so keen to let me know they sent me two (almost identical) emails about an hour apart. The difference? The second had the mandatory one-week notice period removed from it Naughty Affinity water, naughty.
Waste processing system in the ground & working, area landscaped (sort of) - to be fair it is so much better than it was. I’ll tidy up more when it cools down. They even left some root sculpture!
The tank is in the ground, plumbed in, no power yet (tomorrow), so it can receive contents but not process. There is still some filling of trenches and landscaping (I hope!) to be done.
We are finally getting the old, brick septic tank replaced with a modern mini treatment plant. Area cleared, new hole dug, and old tank partly removed today, new treatment plant goes in tomorrow.
Whenever a political party stridently states no rules were broken, it's pretty much an implicit admission that moral considerations were shattered. Every Single Time.
These two were very interested in something the other side of the fence. I suspect it was something 8cm long, furry, and went “squeak”! #caturday And yes, I’m about to hoe the weeds!
Job done! Tool #shed tidied up. Everything is in its place and labelled, all cupboard doors can be opened (except that end one which has stuff I’ll probably never need) and the floor is clear. It won’t last of course 😄
The Tool #Shed Tidy-up is progressing well ! All floor space that is supposed to be clear is now clear (though some bits will go back on the floor), all cupboards are accessible. I might be taking it too far, but I’ve even mopped the floor. Next, put all the tools etc on the work surfaces away.
Last year I promised myself I’d never let the tool #shed get so bad again that I could hardly see the floor or open most of the cupboards. But it’s getting a little that way. So, despite it still being 31C here, it’s time to sort it out!
Oh please, Oh Please! let one of those thuderstorms drift over Widlake towers and morph humidity & heat into a brief and yet awsome deluge of water and voltage! The Delorian awaits!
Hera snores, surprisingly loudly for a cat! It always makes me smile.
I had that built when I worked for the Gnome research centre in the 2000's (Hat Tip to Tom Gauld)
I have my word processor set to UK English, and it does not recognise the word "pillock"?! That word is about as British as it gets!
First raspberries of the year and my god they taste good! Only 2 of the 5 lasted long enough to be pictured
The cupboard is open less than a minute and when I turn back, she’s there, checking it out! Fascinating stuff in there- pensions, old bank statements, bills from the last millennium - but she checked it all out
Getting this post and its concrete foundation out the clay soil was absolutely knackering. Job done!
Hera wants the rain to stop. She’ll get her wish in about 2 minutes. #caturday
I've known pain like that - scrubbing nicotine off the walls & ceiling of my mum's house at 36C, hottest day of the year 2019 in the UK. It was so she felt able to get the decorator in. She. Never. Bothered.
Ahh, what you have there is a Drop Bear! One of the defining features is harsher fur. They are the dangerous, bitey relative of the cute Koala, they drop out of trees onto passers by below and savage them. If you have never come across Drop Bears before, a quick internet search will tell you all...
I’m heading into London to see some friends for the evening. I’m having flashbacks to the terrible grind of the daily commute. Except… no crowds of sad, grey, tired people!
Worthless human! I am your goddess on high, worship me! And by the way, my biscuit bowl is running a little low
