Proud husband and dad. Serving California's 49th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Environmental attorney, clean energy advocate, and SoCal native.
No amount of spin can change the plain truth. If confirmed, Todd Blanche would be Trump’s defense attorney disguised as Attorney General. He cannot be the people’s lawyer while the sitting president is his client. He must not be confirmed.
The president said data centers cause “very little actual disruption” for local communities. The families living next to them would disagree. These facilities pull enormous amounts of water and electricity. They raise real health and environmental concerns. None of that is minor to the people.
Trump hung Teddy Roosevelt in the Oval Office like he’s the heir apparent. What a joke. Roosevelt busted monopolies, banned corporate cash, and jailed the spoils system. Trump runs the family business from the Resolute Desk. One man fought the powerful. The other invoices them.
As Los Angeles burned, people were on Polymarket betting on how many acres it would take. One wrote, “That was fun. Until the next time.” This is sick. I’m going to do all I can to ban it.

Reflecting on Trump’s rant last night, one thing I didn’t expect is the actual documents his own administration declassified would refute his key claims. The National Intelligence Council found that China did not conduct covert election interference in 2020.
The government just spent $1.5 billion of your money buying two immigration prisons from CoreCivic, including Otay Mesa in San Diego. The company walks away with over $1B. Trump owns CoreCivic stock. He holds shares in the company his own administration just enriched. Totally corrupt.
Trump’s government committed up to $1.6 billion of your tax dollars to a tungsten mine in Kazakhstan. Then the sons showed up. Eric and Don Jr. tied to a 20% stake. Lutnick’s sons also cashed in. The fathers negotiate, the government pays, the children profit. They are not even hiding it.
It is long past time to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. The bill to do it is bipartisan and has broad support in the House. Speaker Johnson said he backs a ban, but has let his own promised timeline come and go with no vote on the floor. The American people deserve action.
It’s easy for the president to say everyone is doing great. It’s easy to wave off the strain families are feeling at the grocery store, the gas pump, the pharmacy counter. It’s easy to not care how Americans are actually making ends meet when you just raked in $2 billion in personal profits.
Qatar Force One is costing you anywhere from $400 million to $1 billion. When we take back the House, we will use every tool to demand accountability for every dollar that went into that plane, and to prevent Trump from taking it back to Florida once he leaves the White House.
250 years ago, our founders pledged everything to a single idea. A government that answers to the people. America has never belonged to any one man, and it never will. Happy Independence Day. The American experiment continues, and it’s ours to defend.
“I run the protection program. I’ll take care of you.” That’s Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, telling donors he’ll shield Trump’s family, Cabinet, and friends from investigation. You don’t build a protection program for people who did nothing wrong.
Here’s our latest edition of, “Can you imagine if Obama had done this?” Taking a $400 million jet from a foreign government and keeping it when he left office. It would have ended his presidency. Trump did it and calls it free. Grift, in plain sight.
The Establishment Clause is literally the first protection in the Bill of Rights, and Thomas Jefferson famously described it as creating a “wall of separation between church and state.”
Justice Alito’s son works inside Trump’s Treasury. Alito ruled on a case where Treasury was the defendant and didn’t recuse. The WSJ says calling this out is “attacking the Court.” No. Federal law requires recusal when impartiality “might reasonably be questioned.”
Today I’m grateful for the dad who raised me and the son and daughter who call me Dad. Being a father is the greatest honor of my life. Having a dad like mine made me the man I am. Happy Father’s Day to the dads, granddads, and father figures who show up every day with steady hands and full hearts.
I was honored to just welcome @marnivonwilpert.bsky.social to our office. If we’re going to take back Congress and flip the House, we need fighters like Marni to win in CA-48. Learn more and get involved: www.marnivonwilpert.com
Scientists at Trump’s EPA say they are being told to make chemical risks “disappear on paper.” When a safety test shows danger, supervisors reportedly ask them to keep shrinking the scenario until the poison looks safe. Senior scientists reassigned to paperwork.
Maybe the best part? An all-California infield alongside Senator Alex Padilla, Pete Aguilar, and Raul Ruiz. In times like these, this game is a much needed opportunity to find common ground for a good cause. Until next year!
Look at who Trump is choosing. His former criminal defense lawyer for Attorney General. A housing official with zero intelligence experience is set to run our spy agencies, picked mainly for his record of filing charges against the president’s critics. Blanche and Pulte must not be confirmed.
No administration in American history has been this corrupt. None. And Congress cannot sit back and let it stand. We are a coequal branch of government. That means we have not just the power but the duty to act: to check this president and stop the corruption lining the Trump family’s pockets.
The California primary is June 2. Fill out your ballot today, sign the envelope, and drop it in any official ballot drop box or head to your nearest vote center. No stamp needed. Five minutes, done. Track it at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov.
A federal judge just ordered Trump’s name off the Kennedy Center. Good. It never belonged there. The name is coming down, now or later. If they’re short a volunteer, I will personally climb the ladder and take the name down myself.
My Appropriations amendment was simple. Bar the President, the Vice President, and members of Congress from cashing in on Trump’s $1.8 billion January 6th slush fund, unless a court actually awarded them the money. Every Republican on the committee who was present voted no.
Can you imagine if Obama had hosted a cage fight on the South Lawn of the White House. On his own birthday. With 1,000 tickets handed to himself. While Republican lobbyists begged for the leftovers. Fox would have run a 24-hour countdown clock to impeachment.

Thousands of Marines from Camp Pendleton are deployed in the Middle East right now. Their families deserve to know the mission, the strategy, and the plan to bring them home. So do the American people. I won’t stop pressing for those answers.
A federal court already ruled, twice, that members of Congress have the right to inspect ICE detention facilities without advance notice. Last week, we went to the Otay Mesa Detention Center to do exactly that. ICE handed us a memo, signed the same day, telling us we now need two days notice,
