Passed this building in #Airth going to and from work for years now without paying it much attention. It’s a former Miners’ Welfare built in 1930 with reading and billiard rooms and a hall that accommodated 400 #MiningHistory #MiningHeritage

Surprised to find surviving remains at #Castlecary fireclay mine #Allandale that served Stein’s brickworks. Sadly not dressed for and without appropriate footwear for exploring through dense vegetation but definitely engine platform + adit possibly a fan drift. Needs a winter visit #MiningLandscapes

The site of Stein’s Castlecary #brickworks #Allandale Greater #Falkirk opened at end of 19th Century and closed 1980s. Allegedly the home of the longest 300m kiln in the world now slowly being over run by the vibrant yellow of biting stonecrop #industriallandscape #dereliction
