Such a big event depends a lot on community. As a thank you, if you volunteer with Halifax Pride or attend an event, you can visit the Museum of Natural History for free between July 16th - 26th! Present a pass, ticket, or volunteer badge to our front desk.
The very first Pride March in Halifax took place in 1988. Since then, the Halifax Pride Festival has grown into a celebration many events and learning opportunities that engage upwards of 50,000 participants each summer.

Sam Neill passed away earlier this week. His accomplishments and kindness live on through our memories and each time we look at a dinosaur.
Dr. Horner was a famous Montanan dinosaur palaeontologist who inspired the character Dr. Alan Grant in the 1995 film Jurassic Park. This character, brought to life by actor Sam Neill, inspired and was loved by millions of people.
Achelousaurus horneri, a plant eating dinosaur found in present day Montana and living in the late Cretaceous, was named after Dr. Jack Horner.

5:30pm and 8:00pm – A famous horned dinosaur is triceratops, but who else was a horned dinosaur? 6:00pm – Observe an animal feeding. 6:30pm and 7:30pm – What is paleo art and how can we learn about dinosaurs through art? Each tour is approximately 15 minutes in length. (2/2)

The #LittleBrownMyotis (bat) is endangered in #NovaScotia. Unfortunately, the White-Nose Syndrome (WNS) fungus that grows over the noses of the Little Brown Bats has resulted in a 90% decline in population over the last 20 years. #NSWildifeSpotlight #SpeciesAtRisk #LittleBrownBat

The #SableIslandSweatBee is a member of the Halictidae family, and appears as a dull metallic bee measuring 5–6 mm. Both the #NovaScotiaSweatBee and the Sable Island Sweat Bee call the 34KM island, #SableIsland home. #NSWildifeSpotlight #SpeciesAtRisk #SweatBee

Barren ecosystems are not appreciated like other unique ecosystems around the province. The primary threat to the Rockrose is human activity, highways expansions, new residential and/or commercial development, and sand quarries. #NSWildifeSpotlight #SpeciesAtRisk #WildPlants
