I’ll start with one of my favorites. One that was references in that old post that was liked. Evocation: represents potential energy and the act of creation itself. Spirits of evocation crackle with electricity, produce Creations more rapidly than any other Spirits, and obsess over mortal works.
Been on a tear wrapping up the final subheader illustrations for “Pilgrim’s Passages” 1.0 release! Figured I’d share a couple.
Today's "Pilgrim's Passages" item card is the 2 Load shoes card. I am trying to play a lot with how form can dictate Load. For instance our 1 Load card representing sandals and our 2 load representing light boots.
We are back with more items! Today is a Load 1 pair of shoes. Moving forward I will definitely be taking weekends off. Just too much to do for me to be making cards on weekends.
Skipping today's Pilgrim's item to just post the finished piece for my partner on our Anniversary! This was such a blast to do and I think I might run with the artstyle in my Pokemon Pilgrim's hack. 🤔
I wanted to share these WIPs for a print for my partner. (She doesn't have Bluesky so I can show them off here without spoiling anything. None of my moots better spoil this though.) These are some of her fave 'mons and I think I want to try my hand at a trainer portrait to go with em.
Another day another Blanket! This time the 2 Load one. Pardon the shifting values on the illustrations. I am tinkering a bit with values on the cards as I go through them. Primarily working with black values via transparency on Pilgrim's has been real tricky.
Day 4 of an Item in your pack. Today is a 1 Load Blanket. Something small to keep your warm on cool nights. The items a Pilgrim carries influence how well they rest. Every rest you roll all of your relevant items' dice and count Successes determining how many Stamina Dice your Pilgrim restores.
The final backpack is done today! This is the Load 3 Backpack. I want to vary the Grades moving forward to show how an item's Grade might influence its appearance to a player. Grade is an abstraction of an item's quality or effectiveness in "Pilgrim's". It is one of my favorite mechanics...
Continuing our showcase of item cards leading up to the "Pilgrim's Passages" 1.0 release. Today we have the 2 Load Backpack! The cards will vary in size based off of the associated item's Load (an abstraction of bulk and weight). Packing and carrying items is a tactile experience in Pilgrim's.
Final touches for the full-release of "Pilgrim's Passages" is underway. @chrispwolf.bsky.social asked if I was going to make item cards, so I decided to do some for the basic equipment. My goal is to post a new one on here daily as we approach the full release! Follow along to see them!
If you had to pick one album as the inspiration/OST for your ruleset/favorite module/setting what would it be? Mine, for “Pilgrim’s Passages”, has shifted a lot over the years. I think nowadays I’d have to pick “Rivers Arms” by Balmorhea. I think I need to write a hex flower for it.
Pokemon Z-A is fascinating, and there’s very little nuanced takes on it. Folks either think it is the most disappointing release ever, or it’s Arceus’ gift. So here is a lil thread if you are curious about it. Keep in mind that I’d guess I’m only 1/3 of the way through it.
The starter trio won! Jolteon might have clipped Kingdra with a Thunder and threw...
So I started my first aquarium in years last night! I’m so stoked with how it is turning out!
Here's the first sneak peak of my shot at a Pokemon ttrpg. The trainer side of things is just Pilgrim's Passages w/ a Pokemon trainer coat of paint. (So, hex crawling, travel, resource management, more like backpacking.) The battle mechanics are essentially battleship meets 4e dnd.
Introduce yourself as an anime character. (At least I aspire to be a happier version of him.)
More Pilgrim’s posts coming soon! Got a new job and some festive making to do first!
I wanted crafting to mean something, to be dramatic, and to take time. I wanted finding rare materials to be meaningful but not annoying. A crafter can justify any raw material in a craft. Make that weird wooden shirt, or fabric mace.
