Me and the kiddo are back on a soap making kit. This hobby, which we do strictly for fun, has turned out to be so much fun and such good mom/daughter time. It's also taught her a bunch of really great skills, that creativity can take a lot of forms. Best random hobby I ever got into.

I used to make mixtapes by putting tape over the tab and then playing them on this. As a teen. This one handled being dropped better than the original walkmans.

Munch's Vampire, 1895ish. I first saw it in a book and then in the museum in NYC. I used to visit just to see it and stare at the layers of paint.
I took that "pretty" criticism more to heart than I realized at the time and it was nearly a decade before I realized 1. he was an asshole 2. "pretty" art is still art with meaning and purpose and what I create is worthwhile because I wanted to make it. 3. It has plenty to say.

A pic of me, my brother, and my Poppy. He was a WW2 vet who spent the entire war freezing in Alaska, grateful he did not have to see battle. Later on he was an IRS agent who made sure other agents weren't corrupt. He was a quiet, kind, man who would read to us and loved Matlock.
I love going to museums and being serious about art. And I also enjoy taking pictures of sweet statue butts...and whatever the is going on in that last one. These are from The Getty Villa last year.

Oh, if you want to see just had incredible Gwendoline Christie is, she was in that iconic Margiela show. There's a reason she always looks incredibly well dressed and on theme.
Just a few years ago the Margiela show had this incredible makeup by Pat McGrath where she made the models skin look like plastic by using a spray on peel off face mask over everything. That would've been PERFECT with the Sargent piece as ref.
I guess she paid to exclusively wear Schiaparelli to the gala and then got that thing. Other than the tailoring that dress is extremely meh. As a design house, they are known for much riskier work than this. They took her $ but they don't like her. 2024 collection: aeworld.com/fashion/schi...
