#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Vol. 2 of Warner Archives Monogram Pictures double bills is very musical (yay!) and even more bewildering (🤷♀️🤦♀️). Still not entirely sure what I watched with those, the insanely hagiographic LOUISIANA in particular.
One of the best pure horror films I’ve ever seen is back in theaters for one night only tomorrow (thanks @fangoria.bsky.social!). You should go see it if you can. moviefreak.com/descent-2005...
Fun new arrival mail day. Can’t wait to see what several of these have to offer.
I couldn’t keep myself to four… thecriterioncloset.com#closet
Fun new arrival mail day. FYI - the director’s cut of 54 is a completely different, absolutely outstanding movie. Pity it couldn’t get a 4K upgrade along with the theatrical cut, but this Blu-ray presentation is exceptional.
Always find this fun for some reason. Just find these interesting. Anyhow, some of my @letterboxd.social stats seven months into 2026:
It’s the best of the Tom Holland MCU films. Easily. #SpiderManBrandNewDay moviefreak.com/spider-man-b...
I’m cheating. Last eight watched. Because I’m a fan of all eight. BIG fan 🤷♀️😎😁 #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
Watched. Easily the best of the MCU Tom Holland features, which isn’t a high bar. Still doesn’t touch Raimi (but certainly tries this time around). I guess I’d listen to arguments for HOMECOMING. Maybe. Probably not. But maybe. 🤷♀️
While I’m pretty common and follow the consensus that DARK PASSAGE (1947) is the “least” of the Bogart-Bacall dramas, dang does it remain a compelling, fascinating watch. Such a lovely, bizarre curiosity that’s as cold and as hard as a blood-smeared razor slicing through a block of ice. #TCMParty
I may have been watching @thehorrormaster.bsky.social on TCM the other night…so awesome. 😎 #LatterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
Christopher Nolan’s #TheOdyssey takes the long way home - and is magnificent. Loved. Have already watched twice. Also, Samantha Morton as Circe is something beyond special. She is dazzling. moviefreak.com/odyssey-2026-movie-review/
This is killer news. The director’s cut of 54 is borderline terrific. Actually interviewed Mark Christopher during SIFF 2015 (@siffnews.bsky.social) for this cut’s Seattle premiere. Truly enjoyed chatting with him. He was great. moviefreak.com/54-directors...
Finally came up with a Letterboxd favorites theme (even if it isn’t particularly original) for July:
Here’s what I’m pondering. Didn’t get review copies for any of these. I can’t grab all of them, though, of course. We’ll see.
#LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday As a side note, I need a new theme for my Letterboxd favorites for July. Any suggestions?
Okay. Thinking my holiday weekend viewing plans may just have been determined by this afternoon’s delivery:
Seriously, though, I want to know who in Everett scheduled this double 😂😂😂:
Wrote about it as part of my 1,001 Great Films series for the Seattle Gay News in 2021 if you’re interested. It’s one of my all-time favorites. moviefreak.com/1001-great-f...
“…if it weren’t for sorcerers, there wouldn’t be any dragons…” 🐉 We don’t usually see each other’s headers. Here’s mine.
Took my nieces, 14 and 20, to BACKROOMS, and it’s the most excited after a film I’ve seen them in forever. It’s 1:30am and they’re wide awake and recounting every second. Love to see it. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
This one hurts. A world without Giles is too painful to believe. Head’s performance was so empathetically pure, so selflessly genuine, it’s impossible to consider BUFFY without him. He’s going to be missed. 💔
