For YEARS I've wanted to Interrail, but time, funds or tiny kids have meant it hasn't quite been possible. But a spur of the moment decision about 3 weeks ago means we are now doing a (mini) Interrail through Northern Italy for 7 days! Hope everyone else is having a restful break so far!
The best news to wake up to! PD Lead accreditation, completed 💪 One of the most enjoyable programmes that I've ever done, and of course, hugely proud to pass!

What a day at King's College London on Saturday! An absolute pleasure to support the Kings Scholars programme, helping students develop the skills and knowledge to access universities. The chance to talk through up to 80 parents/carers through metacognition at home was an absolute pleasure!
I won't name and shame this school, but this is everything that is wrong with reward systems. Ice creams, for the top 10% of students following their mocks exams, during a heatwave, is about as unfair as it gets. Schools MUST do better.
I also had more time with some incredible people. Grace Barron and Louise Marie, thank you for getting me involved in so many things - it was a wonder to spend so much time with you both.
It was also a chance to launch my new LLSE course. Again, this wasn't something I could fathom a year ago, and what we've now created is pretty much an NPQ for metacognition. This really could revolutionise things for schools and leaders everywhere.
I'm also incredibly proud of myself. Launching the Evidence Based Education tent on the Friday morning (with 55+ in attendance) was amazing. Thank you CJ Rauch for choosing my talk and your support.
I think I've just about recovered from the Festival of Education (in a good way)! I had no idea what to expect, having never been before, but had one of the greatest days of my professional life.
A huge privilege to deliver at the Whole Education conference yesterday, exploring why metacognition is for ALL students, and how we can scaffold and adapt to ensure that this is the case. Thank you to the dozens who came to my session, and the kind words afterwards too!
A room with a view! A pleasure to work with all Heads of Department at St Joseph's High School today, on their 'away day' (look at the views)! This was followed up with a full staff theory session at the end of the day! Already buzzing to be back after summer!

A brilliant day at the ATT Institute rED in East Anglia today! A superb keynote by Christine Counsell (on storytelling), followed by amazing sessions by Claire Harley (decision making), Claire Badger & Kerensa Ogbe (on MWB use), Stuart Pryke (100% participation) and Paul Cline (feedback).
There are some days where you just have to pinch yourself, because you can't quite believe something is real. Today was certainly one of those, as I had the absolute honour of providing a foreword for a forthcoming education book. I can't wait to share more it!

I had to pick out this final paragraph because this conclusion is so important. The grouping of learners is of secondary importance to the quality of teaching in the first instance. Setting, streaming, mixed... the crucial aspect of any is high quality teaching.
