Some early ideation for Tagah for the Avatar: Aang movie, back when the project was still in its blue-sky phase! Huge thanks to Jake Panian for giving me the opportunity to throw some ideas around.
Designing a hero for Overwatch has always been on my bucket list, but I've always been busy working on illustrations. I don't really consider myself a concept artist, at least not for video games, so this was a fun challenge. I hope you all have fun with Shion!
That little monster will start infinite chirping only when I’m in meetings.
STL for 3d print available! Cults3d finally approved the files... cults3d.com/en/3d-model/...
i think the more support close to each other the less warping? that's why the autosupport place so many ? I also use their EVO support tech, it just switch automatically the size depending on the size/height of the print.
I always add those internal structures. I feel like they help prevent deformation. I've noticed that very flat printed surfaces tend to expand or warp slightly, so these structures help keep everything stable and reduce deformation.
I always try to add as many drain holes as possible at the lowest points of the model to avoid suction marks. If there's a way to add additional holes in the middle or near the top, I do that as well.
That's what I have for the thickness. I usually place supports around the keyed areas to help hide the support marks, but that can cause a bit of deformation. So I alternate, on the matching piece, I try to keep the connecting surface clean instead.

After version 4, I finally got a decent keying/cut where it connects easier and also more clean. Keying is definitely the not fun part.
Raw print! Parts are still loose and unassembled, but I'm really happy with the lower body it's clean and almost no sanding needed. Not happy with the shirt-to-torso/arms connection though. The keying is difficult to assemble and the edges are not the cleanest, so I'll have to redo that area. T_T
Big boy's keying is done! It should take about 18 hours to print. Hopefully the keying works well, and then it'll be ready to go up on the Cults3D shop. 😄
hmm who could that be XD... Doing a bit of ZBrush, just checking if I haven’t forgotten everything already since I never have time to use it with work and drawing on the side. I have to choose, & unfortunately I don’t have much time for ZBrush. Definitely easy to forget some stuff mostly shortcuts.
took me 3h to blockout that lol. I'm not even sure it's going to work ahah. Save me XD.
Blocking out… Even though I learned the basics of ZBrush pretty quickly, I feel like learning it at an older age made me slower in execution. It’s like watching my parents type with two fingers while looking for each key. It takes me ages to do a simple blockout.

Some dressing test :3 (Miss and match of clothing of figures I bought, so it’s not perfect fit)
After years and years of trying to understand how to draw the forearm, I finally kind of understand how the muscles wrap around it. Not perfect but no more random lines until it looks okay lol. Next on my study list: hips and butts. Though I should figure out how to draw elbow too 😆
WIP - Started to play with Clip Studio animation tool. Time to learn animation?
