Explored Trondheim. A beautiful old town. The cathedral was started in 1100s on the grave of Saint Olaf. There is the oldest gay graffiti scratched in the stone “LAURENSIUS CELVI ANUS PETRI” which translates from Latin to “Lars is Peter’s butt”. We tried to find it but it was behind scaffolding.
Drove the Atlantic route from Molde to Trondheim. Longer but very beautiful.
Greetings from Molde. The night before the jazz festival. Miles Davis played here in 1984. Esperanza Spaulding is the opening act this year.
Explored Alesund then drive to Molde and another ferry. Just a gorgeous country.
Drove from Bergen to Alesund, countless tunnels, 4 ferries. 3 main fjords crossed. Glaciers and that milky water in the high country. Deepest green fields. Waterfalls. And a midnight sun. Norway is very impressive.
I mean. I had to try it. It was delicious. Tender. Lightly smoked. Tastes like beef.
Explored Bergen. A rare sunny day as it’s wetter than Seattle. The Bryggen medieval port. The view from the top of the funicular. A forest walk back to town. The forest looks like the Pacific Northwest, mossy and green. Evening walk around town. Kids jumping in the fijord.
In the bargain grocery. A 7 oz steak is about 43 dollars. And it’s from Botswana. Norway is very expensive.
High country trip from Oslo to Bergen. Glaciers and tunnels and fijords oh my.
A sunny day in Oslo. Finally had to buy clothes. My bag may arrive tomorrow (hope). Lovely long lunch with Philip, old friends. The Vigeland sculpture garden, the Opera house, the Munch Museum, up to the Olympic ski jump with a view of the city, and dinner with friends. Who needs luggage?
“Fartsdumper” is a street sign in Norway. It means speed bump. But my inner child can’t stop laughing.
Walked a bit. Sunset at 10:30. Along Oslo fijord and in town. Last pic is midnight at our flat.
4AM at Tor means it’s time to head to Oslo. The Irish channel here is a busy shipping lane. The Russian ships are easily identifiable on the shipping apps because they don’t list their ports of origin or destination. Russia is definitely shipping.
This wee haystack looking island as seen from Philips backyard, just next to his sauna. Is Ailsa Craig. All curling stones for the Olympics come from there. It had a micro granite that makes the perfect curling stones
Made it to Tor. Said hi to Glynn at his mountain home and dropped off a 50th Bday present. Stopped in at Philips sisters house in Ballymoney for a cup of tea and gossip. And Tor is as beautiful as always.
Farm camp update photo. Not the best pic but they do look very happy about their situation.
Miss Gracie has claimed the Roche Bobois knockoff chair for her own. Baby girl.
Apparently all elections remain local. DSA doesn’t play as well in Colorado as it does in NYC.
Being in call isn’t so bad when you can step out the back door for a few minutes and feel like you’re on vacation. Just took 13 years to get around to doing the patio. :)
A nice breeze arrived so we took advantage of the reprieve and went frog hunting. The lightning bugs are out in force.
Welp. The smoker left a smoke stain on the wall and burned the plants. So my plan of having grills there won’t work. So trying out a new arrangement after work. It’s so hot. lol. Will likely continue to move things around. Still have to figure out where to put the Ooni.
