I got a baby melon growing. I've never been successful growing melons this far north but maybe this is the year I finally do??

Side note: Obsidian is an excellent system for staying organized with worldbuilding notes and whatever else you need to keep track of book wise. Though I will note it takes awhile to get used to it. Anyway, here's a screenshot of one of the worldbuilding notes I worked on this morning.

I also have squash and pole beans planted amongst the corn. I think next year I won't plant squash on this side of the bed because it's getting a little too much shade during the day and not taking off as quickly as I hoped. I replanted some of the other side of bed that gets more sun, so we'll see

Also speaking of plants my sweet corn is taking off in this heat. It's always interesting to me to see how unevenly it grows depending on sunlight. The corn that gets a little shaded in the late afternoons next to the fence isn't doing nearly as well as the giants in the middle of the field

The front left arbor in the first photo will also have a native passion fruit vine. The plan is to get at least one more arbor and have blackberries grow over it. I've got some leftover square pavers I'll place in the middle of the walkway and we're considering putting a bench in a gap

It's been awhile since I gave a garden update! I have been.... Busy is putting it mildly lol. But this weekend we assembled and installed the first two arbors that are the framework of the TUNNEL OF FRUIT. The hardy kiwiberry has also been planted on 3 sides.

Y'all, I'm.... Speechless that 170 people showed up to back the campaign for my weird genre blending dark science fantasy book. This has been such a delight, the last few weeks have felt very special and I'm glad you could join me in sending this book out into the world with a bang. ❤️

Anyone else enjoy going out to their garden and realizing there's a significant pepper harvest requiring attention, and using your shirt as a basket?
