Slip through the parking lot at PCC, onto the sidewalk and back onto SE 80th. You’ll pass one of my favorite spots where the city left an island of massive Douglas Firs:
You can cross Division at either 78th or at PCC. This spot has a stoplight to protect you from speeding drivers.
Follow SE 80th up to SE Powell, where there’s a bidirectional bike lane and flashing beacon on Powell. People usually stop but you have to be careful. It’s still 4 lanes of fast moving traffic. Today, PBOT was there sweeping the bike lane, yay!
Okay! It’s not always perfect. This guy was parked in the SE Holgate bike lane next to the cemetery for unknown reasons. This is rare, though.
Just follow the white bikes painted on the street and the arrows, and you’ll get there. The spot is by Marysville elementary just north of Foster.
So much today is terrible, so here are the cats I cat-sat while working today. HELPING.
If @kaiser-permanente.bsky.social wants to build the Sunnyside Campus of the future, advocating for a less car-only infrastructure would be a good step. Millions are going into the new buildings but safety for biking / walking is nonexistent.
Yes! My household sold two cars (one 20 years old, failing; and one 30 years old, falling apart) and had to invest in one new car for my spouse’s commute. I bought my e-cargo bike shortly after. It has truly replaced a car!
Doing newspaper searches for family member stuff, I found my great grandfather’s car sales business ads in the Lebanon, MO, paper. Years’ worth. And then one ad where he’s selling “grape juice” during Prohibition. And then he goes out of business the same year. Hmmmm.
Vacation-to-real-life reentry is never harder than when you’ve had a week of amazing green chile cuisine in New Mexico and then all that’s in your house is canned soup and dried ramen. Harsh.
The only result that has made me smile is my coworker Alexi Miller appears to be winning his EWEB Board election handily, unless 312% now is a real number
