U.S. Senator Gary Peters

U.S. Senator proudly representing the State of Michigan. 🏍️
This Administration is failing our brave men and women in uniform. We need real leadership to end this war with Iran.
The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative is the most significant investment ever made to restore and protect our Great Lakes. Now more than ever, we need to ensure this vital program has the resources necessary to keep our treasured waterways healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
In case you missed it – the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is now the law of the land! I am proud of this huge bipartisan victory to increase our housing supply and lower costs for Michiganders. huroncountyview.com/articles/pet...
Trump and Republicans refuse to rein in ICE and CBP. These fatal shootings are why Democrats are pushing to enact commonsense reforms like deescalation training, body cameras, and accountability.
There’s a foodborne parasite spreading, but there are ways for folks to stay healthy. Michigan HHS has great resources on how to keep safe, and it can be as simple as always washing your hands and thoroughly cleaning fresh produce, as recommended. See more below 👇
Wishing a very happy birthday to my partner in the Senate, Senator Slotkin! I'm proud to work with you everyday to serve the people of Michigan.
Flipping pancakes at the Very Cherry Flying Pancake Breakfast!
Happy 4th of July and 250th birthday to this great nation we call home. During this remarkable milestone, may we look ahead to what we will achieve, together, in the next 250 years. God Bless America.
The Great Lakes and Michigan’s auto industry are simply part of who we are as Michiganders. As we celebrate America's 250th birthday with this time capsule, what better way to memorialize our amazing state than some Pure Michigan! www.freep.com/story/news/p...
I’m glad the Supreme Court affirmed that ballots mailed by election day will still be counted. Millions of Americans rely on mail-in ballots as a safe and secure way to make their voices heard. I’ll continue to work hard to keep our elections fair and free from interference.
Federal judges this week repeatedly confirmed what we all know and what the Constitution makes clear: No President can nationalize our elections. I’ll keep working to stop election interference, safeguard the fundamental right to vote, and ensure our elections remain free, fair, and secure.
On Juneteenth National Independence Day, we commemorate the closing of one of our nation’s most painful chapters. As we recognize this critical moment in our history, let’s recommit to addressing the systemic inequalities and racial disparities that persist in our society today.
Disasters hit red states and blue states alike. When they strike, we need to come together as Americans to help each other recover. But, President Trump has been politicizing recovery aid based on your Governor’s or Senators’ political party. It’s simply unacceptable.
We have to stay on top of this screwworm outbreak. Further spread has the potential to cause serious economic harm for our dairy and cattle farmers. I'm urging USDA to take immediate action.
Happy Pride, Michigan! Pride Month is a time to elevate and recognize the generations of LGBTQ Americans who bravely stood up for their basic rights. We must band together to ensure that Michiganders are free to be their real, authentic selves.
DHS confirmed it is ready for trade and travelers on the Gordie Howe Bridge. That is great news for Michigan! Once open, the bridge will support international commerce that grows Michigan’s economy.
Day 2 at the Mackinac Policy Conference! Great to hit the airwaves again on media row. Talking about how we come together to strengthen the future of our state.
As we spend this day with family and friends, we must all take a moment to reflect on the significance that Memorial Day holds.
Michiganders are paying the price of Trump’s war with Iran every time they fill up their tank.
Happy to see Sanford Lake is back and within legal level for the first time since 2020. To the families, business owners, and volunteers who never stopped fighting for this community - enjoy the summer! #SanfordStrong Pictures from June 7th, 2024 to May 5th, 2026.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the teachers I’ve had in my life, including my dad, a proud public school teacher for many years. This National Teacher Day, I'm sending my sincerest thank you to all the educators who go above and beyond for our students.
This International Firefighters’ Day, I’d like to applaud the heroism that firefighters display in Michigan and across the country. That’s why I’ve always fought to strengthen federal grant programs that make sure fire departments have enough staff and up-to-date safety equipment and resources.
As the proud son of an SEIU steward and NEA teacher, I firmly believe we must protect all workers’ right to bargain for fair wages, better benefits, and safe workplaces. This International Workers’ Day, and every day, I’m proud to stand with Michigan workers!
Our government’s system of checks and balances does not work when Congress refuses to hold the President accountable. It’s time we see some real courage.
We have no time to waste. The Trump Admin's funding freezes, along with aging dams and record snowmelt in our state, are converging into a real public safety challenge. The Trump Admin must release the federal funding already signed into law to address what we are seeing in Northern Michigan.
Costs are up across the board and the U.S. national debt just surpassed $39 TRILLION dollars. Without changes, we’re headed toward economic catastrophe.
