I loved that cover so much I actually bought the original inks from Dan Cornwell. It’s got pride of place on the office / library wall.

@liamsharp.bsky.social after our little SubStack exchange about your Hulk / Man-Thing run I went and checked my old stash in my storage unit, and looky looky what I had buried in the boxes.

Not sure I’ve ever shared my two signed Brian Bolland JLA comics. I’m a sucker for anything with Starro in! The double-B is also one of the nicest people in comics… he’s always got a lovely story or two.
I just did this really nerdy data exercise on my comic book collection. Each dot is a book. Books that share rare, distinctive themes are drawn closer together. Colour indicates publisher. Says a lot about my tastes & bias.
We went up to Crystal Palace park to see Snow Patrol last night and there was maybe 50,000+ people — not a single nob (that we saw) in the whole place. Just a whole load of happy, distracted, united people. The world needs it!
Got hold of the Silver cover last weekend… now on the hunt for the gold one.
Here’s some of Dans incredible talent that he allowed me to purchase from him during the writing of the book. From driving buses to my favourite artwork… show me an Ai that can do that!
I’ve been looking back at some of my favourite comic books and their movie adaptations. I was really fortunate enough to attend the London premiere of Road to Perdition back in 2002, and it cemented in my mind that this is one of the finest comics of all time. open.substack.com/pub/petetrai...
Google will offer a boat load of money and the government will crumble because the country is bankrupt… just wait for it to come.
Had to add another layer to the top of my comic-book shelf to get the rest in, and now I’m up to the ceiling… 😂😬📚
Got both the green and the black and white variants of Spider-Man Torment #1, both in pristine condition and at a very good price.
It’s a very big THUMBS UP from me. We just watched #Supergirl and loved it. Milly Alcock absolutely kills it. The plot is paper thin, the fights are repetitive and not particularly original anymore, but it was a whole heap of fun. Go see it — ignore the reviewers and ratings, it worth a big screen.
What I love about these reviews is people “got it”… it’s a relief. I don’t care if it’s a one-star or five-star review, what I care deeply about is that they read it and went “ok, this isn’t another tear-down of Ai, this is a look at what we lose if Ai gets its algorithms across everything we love.”
How do you ACTUALLY know that? Think about it… if you’re an advanced alien species, and you’ve come to abduct John McGinn, you’re probably going to use some kind of cloaking device while you switch him during a set-piece with his doppelgänger. Think, Dan… think.
Google’s default Ad on chrome today… Now, let’s imagine a world where we’ve sorted out the rights, the payments and the fact these tools aren’t going away. THIS 👇🏻 is the real problem… ethically, we’re undoing 20 years of equality, bias and just general hard progress with this crap.
Did a little bit more art buying. I found my very old Robocop #1 from c1991 (In great condition too) so went digging and managed to find Lee Sullivans original drawing for page 19. It’s-a-beauty.
A REALLY lovely warm summers evening watching Ali jamming some of the back catalog at the stunningly wonderful Saturnalia Records in Faversham. Elliot & Andrea run a very special celebration of music and creative culture at Saturnalia & if you’re in the area pop in! www.saturnaliarecords.com
Props to @ssnyder1835.bsky.social + the entire creative team & contributors for the first 20 issues of #AbsoluteBatman, it’s been a blast & a lot of fun. It’s just FRESH. My habit is well and truly cemented. Thanks also to @okcomics.bsky.social for topping me up every month — you guys rock.
Finally managed to get my hands on a collected TPB edition of Defoe by Pat Mills and the ridiculously talented Leigh Gallagher … it’s alluded me for so long this one. Leigh’s work is so on point for the story. Epic stuff. comicvault.cc/public/comic...
I’m happy to report that my message to Jim in Sydney has made it to India. Keep going little digital bird, you are doing good work.
We don’t talk about this comic book movie adaptation enough. Based on the brilliant 1998 comic by Max Collins & Richard Rayner the film was actually a bit of a revelation. Directed by Sam Mendes with an understated performance by Tom Hanks. Beautiful soundtrack too. youtu.be/LFe6arz3NcY?...
How should I rearrange the book shelf? By writer (not great, but at least groups by a human) By main character? By publisher? By decade and then year?
