East Anglia is officially in drought. In South Cambridgeshire our aquifers are being depleted, and the Cam's flow is kept up by water pumped from our aquifers. I'm pressing ministers to make water and sewage capacity a genuine deal-breaker for growth, and demanding the Fens Reservoir gets built.

Social care is finally centre stage after years of Liberal Democrat campaigning. But no plan is complete without palliative and end of life care. Liberal Democrats took a 15,000 signature petition to Downing Street for Arthur Rank Hospice, and I'll keep pushing for it.

Government indecision leads to chaos! The Government has failed to make a decision on Cambridgeshire's local government reorganisation, leaving residents and councils in the dark yet again. I asked the Secretary of State today if he understands the chaos this is causing.

4/ At a time when climate denial is growing louder at home and abroad, protecting tropical forests like the Amazon is one of the most effective tools we have to tackle climate change and nature loss. We cannot afford to let bad, short-term politics stand in the way of good, long-term solutions.

This week I presented my Chalk Stream UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site Bill in Parliament for a second time. The UK holds 85% of the world's chalk streams which are crystal-clear habitats with unique wildlife. It is important we protect these rare and national jewels.

The transition to secure, green and affordable energy requires action nationally, regionally and locally - and that's where community energy comes in. Lib Dems are calling for communities to have the power to buy and sell energy locally, and to benefit fairly when they host renewable infrastructure.

South Cambridgeshire has just had the 2nd driest April and hottest May bank holiday on record. Climate change impacts - harvest failures, worsening drought, deadly heatwaves - are here now. The transition away from fossil fuels is not a political nice-to-have, it is now a necessity.

Yesterday I met with CBI and Energy UK to discuss the rising energy costs for businesses. Businesses shouldn't be left vulnerable to soaring energy prices. We need comprehensive action to support British businesses lower costs and decarbonise - otherwise we risk holding back the UK economy.

While the Government's announcement was welcome, we need to go beyond short-term action. We've seen oil and gas prices soar, and the families who have to use oil for heating are the most exposed. The Government needs to urgently implement a price cap and a three-month VAT holiday on heating oil.

Many rural homes, like those in South Cambs, rely on heating oil and have seen prices more than double in a week. I asked Rachel Reeves if she would back Lib Dem proposals for a three‑month VAT cut on heating oil and consider further support to protect residents from these unfair price spikes.

What Reform and the Conservatives won't say about expanding North Sea oil and gas: it won't make bills in the UK a penny cheaper! A diverse mix of UK-produced green energy is how we lower people's bills and provide the true energy security we need.

The US-Iran conflict shows just how dangerous dependence on oil & gas really is. Like with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this crisis reveals how gas prices can soar leaving us vulnerable to price shocks beyond our control. Developing clean energy can free us from Trump's geopolitical blackmail.

The Secretary of State seems to appreciate Lib Dem common sense on energy bills! Brexit is costing the UK £350m a year by shutting us out of the EU energy market. I pushed for faster progress on a UK‑EU electricity trading deal to cut costs and boost energy security.

Cutting schemes like ECO with no plan to replace them will not help the 6.1 million households living in fuel poverty. Liberal Democrats want a fully funded long term Warm Homes Plan to cut bills and keep people warm.
