This baby has gone back to my agent to hopefully be yeeted at editors in the near future, please pray for it!🖤 For all your faded baroque theatre in a flooded town needs, I offer you murders, weird feral children, possessed dancers, strange tides, a dying seamstress and bloodthirsty puppets...
I am, if you hadn't guessed by their guest appearance in The Salt Oracle, unequivocally Team Orca. They're having a splendid day today folks. I wish them well.
This Wednesday! If anyone lurking around the North-East fancies coming to chat bookish things, oceanic fantasy and dangerous (fucked up) children. @rtorrubia.com @solarisbooks.bsky.social tickets here: inkandquill.co.uk/products/an-...
This is where I'll be at @cymerafestival.co.uk this weekend, as well as just generally loitering. I am EXTREMELY EXCITED, as always, for this welcoming, warm-hearted, brilliant festival. Do come join us & say hi if you see me
Heyyyy lovelies I have bunch of events with splendid folks coming up in June & it would be tops if some of you felt like joining us! 🖤 @cymerafestival.co.uk tix: www.cymerafestival.co.uk/programme-26 Dundee: www.waterstones.com/events/rafae... Edinbugh: www.waterstones.com/events/an-ev...
I love that readers' favourite character card has been this one 👇🏽 I am all out of vengeful ghost orcas & need to order more for all my June events - we're all Team Orca I guess? 🖤
My proper & much beloved camera died without warning 😭 so I couldn't do my usual 6 million photos of butterflies & miscellaneous bugs. But flowers (and utility boxes) are slower to run away, even if the phone cam quality is crap
I do love places where utility boxes are considered canvases for art. But also, roses! Bellisima! (I tried to post this while away but eh let's pretend I'm still in Italy & still allowed to hide from all things publishing)
It's THE SALT ORACLE's 6 month-iversary! I love this book, it was a BSFA finalist an' all, but I'd love it to find more readers So if you like folklore, opinionated oceans, oracles, a lil light murder, odd dark academia & weird futures please give it a go? It has ghost orcas causing havoc...
Blurry train photo from train 1 of 5 on a Scotland to Italy escapade
Today's procrastination came in the shape of a mood board... ... spot the image where I went 'crap, this book's meant to have some utopic elements beneath *the horrors*, quick! shove in something *warming*' 😂😬
Oh hey it's #EarthDay and @solarisbooks.bsky.social are having a sale on books full of the wild places, ecological themes and excellent (or fucked up) beasties! Go fill yer boots! 🌍📚🖤
Gotta say this is an insightful read & frames a very hopeful future via a Charter Of The Commons, but ye gods the summaries of how we got to where we are are BLEAK.
Event organiser just throwing their hands up at the 'pick a genre' challenge for my books 😆
The indignant face of a noodle who doesn't agree that she's done snootling around the lounge actually
Voting for the Hugos, BSFA's and Locus Awards all close soon so can I just gesticulate at THE SALT ORACLE once more? This book has ghost orcas, what more could do you possibly need? ALSO & MORE IMPORTANTLY, please go vote for the AMAZING cover designer, Sam Gretton and editor Amanda Raybould? 🖤🌊🖤
The wonky loaf of a catten who *teleported* out of my bedroom earlier after knocking a plant pot off the windowsill. I was watching him jump up and he fully *vanished* without noise or movement the moment the pot fell. Clearly a space cat occupying multiple extra dimensions
I love these old net wynds so much. They speak so strongly to the interweaving of community & sea
Today's blog post got a wee bit ranty... Enjoy. Maybe. www.patreon.com/posts/149012...
He has several cat beds, blankets, *heated blankets*, sofas & human beds to sleep on. And yet. Recycling bin is tops.
I post a lot of very calm sea photos. Just for balance, it also does this
Reposting because I got the time wrong. Arghhh Please join us two hours earlier than previously advertised...

First attempt at doing something with the damaged books - ORIGAMI ORLANDO 😂 @solarisbooks.bsky.social
