I joined my colleagues in visiting ICE detainees in Campbell County, Kentucky. It is unconscionable that Congressional Republicans green-lit BILLIONS in additional funding for ICE, but continue to mistreat detainees who are pregnant or have medical conditions like diabetes.

I’m at the Campbell County Detention Center in Kentucky today with @ramirez.house.gov and @repmcgarvey.bsky.social conducting congressional oversight following reports of inhumane conditions and inadequate medical care of people in custody.

Republicans are pushing legislation to allow religious organizations to break the law. Still, it’s disheartening that they voted down my amendment that would allow the IRS to strip tax-exempt status from those organizations if they promote the beliefs or practice of child marriage.

I will never stop standing up and using my voice as an elected official to condemn the violence and terror ICE is unleashing on our communities.

Donald Trump and Republicans cut SNAP benefits for millions of Americans so they could lavish more tax giveaways to the wealthiest among us. It is unconscionable that people are going hungry while Trump, his family, associates and billionaire donors line their pockets.

A little-known fact about the Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill is that it creates a national voucher program. Their voucher scheme helps funnel taxpayer dollars into private schools, including religious schools, which lack accountability, transparency, and civil rights protections.

Trump’s policies are driving up the cost of living, but Secretary Scott Bessent wants us to take solace that inflation is a “blip” and we all just need to take it on the chin until we “get to the other side of this.” I would love to see a timeline on that.
