Good Lord, I buy my underpants from @marksandspencers.bsky.social! Must be careful next time to choose the right ones.
Now back at my home church, St. Luke's, Burlington, and tomorrow I'm presiding and preaching at both the 8.15 and 10am services. All are welcome.
Committed Christian players from both teams praying together at the end of the game. I once asked a well-known English, Christian player what he prayed before a game. "That all of us, players and officials, will leave the pitch uninjured." Moved my deeply.
I walk the dog therefore I am. Early every morning. My wife thinks this picture is cute. She must mean Tilly's back.
Every time I see Donald Trump and despair of the USA I watch @jeopardyofficial.bsky.social and my faith in the country is restored.
We all fail in this - certainly me - but I'm still shocked at how many loudly self identified Christians, liberal as well as conservative, seem to not even make the effort.
Bastille Day! And France play Spain in a World Cup semi-final. Mind you, there were only seven people in the prison when it was liberated in 1789. Four counterfeiters, two psychiatric patients, one aristocrat incarcerated for incest. I wonder if any of them would have made the team today?
Next two Sundays I'm preaching and presiding at St. Simon's in Oakville. Services 9.30am, address 1450 Litchfield Rd. Love to see you there.
The play Giant, starring John Lithgow as Roald Dahl, ended its Broadway run at the Music Box Theatre a few days ago. Here's hoping it will transfer to Toronto. And a movie. Who will play me?
Are FIFA president Gianni Infantino and The Hood from Thunderbirds related? Mr. Hood is described as "the world's most dangerous man" but can he make red cards disappear?
Oh we were good. But it was hard going. I have a blood pressure cuff to test for afib and had to use it several times. I think I died twice.
The first Sunday of each month I preach and preside at Christ Church, Flamborough. The service begins at 10am and all are welcome.
This is ridiculous! We all know that Otto the gerbil has far greater football knowledge.
She's having a couple of teeth out on Monday and it's costing the same as my recent dental implant. Mind you, she's much more diet-conscious than me.
In yet another instalment of "It's not antisemitism" here's the delightful young man who told a potential employer that he was "not interested in working for a jew." Blimey, as a priest I better not tell him about my boss!
My latest for @torontostar.bsky.social www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Giant received four Tony Award nominations this weekend and John Lithgow won for Best Leading Actor. So proud of everybody involved and honoured to be a part of this remarkable drama.
Mum on her wedding day. I never thanked her enough, never appreciated her enough, never understood her enough. I know that might be common and understandable with children but our four aren't like that. Can't deny it - I feel guilt and sorrow, especially as I age. Love you mum. Thank you. xxx
I'm on Newstalk 610 CKTB radio every Wednesday at 9.15am with Gene Valaitis. Great fun.
Tilly the Parson Russell got hold of some grapes yesterday. My wife rushed to the vet. Vomiting induced - Tilly, not my wife - and kibble, a dental treat, and two grapes appeared. She seems fine - again, Tilly, not my wife - but a crisis is a crisis.
Just booked our flight and hotel for New York in late March. It's the opening of Giant on Broadway. The play, cast, writer won countless awards in London. John Lithgow continues as Roald Dahl but the actor who plays me is new. Never had this on my list of predictions!
This is causing such pain and division. I regard myself as an orthodox Christian, even quite theologically conservative, but I've seen so much authentic Christian love, sacrifice, and commitment in same-sex unions. I pray to God that the Church of England can move forward.
I'll be presiding and preaching today at St. Luke's, Burlington at 8.15 and 10am - all are welcome.
