And that's a wrap! It's been quite a year, AI has made me look a bit fresher than I feel. Out of office on for 2 weeks as I catch a plane tomorrow for some R and R and then it's Y not. Thanks to everyone who I've worked with this year, it's been a pleasure!
Final face to face conference of the academic year. East of England stronger for practice hub.
If it’s not joyful when you’re four and five, it doesn’t bode well for the rest of your education. We want to inspire a joy of learning - it’s at the heart of the curriculum I wrote, which is used all over the world. Let’s put play and joy back into childhood ! Watch this space to find out more…
Getting ready to welcome 150 delegates to “Best Start in Life” training in Essex today.
Leading this training for heads, leaders and advisors in Ealing today. It’s going to be a warm one!
Thoroughly enjoyed delivering this online today. We explored play taxonomies, schemas and discussed how play develops executive function, as well as exploring symbolic play as the roots of early writing, art , music and maths. #PlayMatters
Wow- what an amazing day, yesterday ! A real privilege to listen to participants in the Wirral writing project reflecting on all they’ve learned and developed, and hear their passion and enthusiasm to continue the work. I’m truly humbled, and feel quite emotional about it.
It's been a pleasure to work with Wirral teachers on the writing project this year, focussing on how to support young children to write. Im excited to share our success stories later in the week, and think about, "What next?" I’ll be leading writing training next year for English hubs and LAs.
Excited be leading this today. Next year I’ll be leading this course for several LAs , consortiums and English hubs.
Taking a few minutes to reflect in the garden. Whatever you’re doing today, remember you’ve been given a gift. ruthswailes.com/the-gift/
Lovely feedback from day one of my early writing training. I’m running this course with several English hubs, MATs and LAs next year. Keep your eyes peeled.
Day 1 of this today. I’m leading this training again next year for several English hubs, MATs and LAs.
I’m leading training on developing a curriculum for under 2s today for leaders in Herefordshire . We’re going to start with attachment and relationships, which is a pretty good place to start with any curriculum IMO.
I’m starting to get into work mode again. I have 5 days left in the Autumn term and about 20 in the Spring and Summer. If you’d like school improvement support, training or a keynote speech or conference workshop, please get in touch. I’m happy to develop bespoke packages for MATs, LAs and schools.
What a great day we had today. Day 4 of our 6 day writing project. We’ve been looking through the lens of different theorists, research and developmental approaches to writing and collating children’s writing from across the Wirral to share with schools.
I’m so proud of this. It was a tremendous privilege to be commissioned to develop this curriculum idea and then to write it. Now I get to train the teachers all over the world who use it in their classrooms every day. I have to pinch myself sometimes!
I'm looking forward to leading this next month. It's open to anyone who wishes to attend. If you're interested in writing development then do come and join us!
I’ll be publishing the trajectories, when I’m really happy that they’re right. They’re work in progress at the moment, and being trialled in some schools. I’m already tweaking!
