Our guide in Peru said that, in their community of ~200 people, every house has to be rebuilt completely once every 2-4 years. It takes 5 or so days to build one with a handful of people. And the villages flood every year during the wet season. So you need a canoe to get the house next door.
This couple don't have any neighbors for miles and miles. Everything they own and have built had to be transported by (small) boat and carried through deep muddy rainforest. No electricity. Collecting rainwater for the showers. Living off of what you can hunt, fish and forage. It's wild.
To get to what was our final lodge, next to a cabin where only our guide and his wife lived, we had to: Take a 1-hour boat ride from Mocagua, a remote community of 1,000 people, onto a small tributary of the Amazon river (see vid) for 20 minutes, then hike through muddy dense jungle for another 15.
We're definitely not in Kansas anymore. Time to go off the grid for a few days! I hope our Amazon tour guide speaks English like I asked for lmao. I don't know how much further I can stretch my Spanish. XD
¡Buenos días! Surpsise no. 1: lots of motorcycles, easily 10-20x more than I'm used to seeing in the Netherlands. Was super obvious while taking an Uber to the hotel last night. Surprise no. 2: not many people were able to speak English at the airport. My basic Spanish came in clutch! XD

I've been a furry for like ten years now, been to a bunch of different cons, made lots of friends, and I've never owned a fursuit. I learned how to draw to make my fursona after the age of 30. You don't need anything special. Just go for it and have fun! That's what matters.
I walked by my old elementary school and my childhood home on a rainy morning a couple weeks ago. Neither was really recognizable anymore. I have a lot of memories of both places. I remember getting in trouble for trying to climb on the school rooftop with friends.

In more uplifting news, I recently beat Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven, and it was such an amazing experience. Really enjoyed my time with it and the meta-narratives that evolved for me with all my emperors and their successes/failures. Also cute lizardmen.
In fact, practice what you preach, right? Here's a little snippet of me stumbling my way through Piano Man, a song that I'm probably not really ready for yet (haven't even finished my first lesson book to completion). But you know what? Screw it. I'm having fun, mistakes and all.
Putting my main character in GW2 in a new outfit for the new stuff, and I love him so much lol. I *really* should draw him sometime. XD
Pretty much by the book for me. Just had to creatively shuffle a few around. Only ones I don't really vibe with much are Normal and Fairy. Nothing in there that really speaks to me XD
