Had a very immersive viewing experience of Your Name last night. The sun set at the exact pace it did in the movie.
Really enjoying Blue Lock. It’s been a delicious snack of a comic in between World Cup matches. Been a while since I’ve been hooked on a manga like this. Feels like a good junk food kind of reading, all action head empty no thoughts
There is an incredibly niche genre of internet video brain rot that is like dolled up asian woman in a village cooks a very visually distinct thing in an amount of oil that looks obvious that it will overflow. The oil catches fire, and the women continues to cook in it to make something inedible
I turned 30. I've drawn a fruit themed portrait for my birthday for the past 6 years. This year is a fig. Transformation, patience, and an unexpected sweetness.
Got accused of using AI to write at work, but it was genuinely just me writing shitty
Job offer!! I’m helping a PBS series look for a social media manager/content creator for an upcoming promotional campaign. The start date is ASAP, and a project timeline that currently goes to July. This is for a series on American Muslim history, so candidates with cultural familiarity preferred!
Reading Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy, and her command of language is so beautiful. I don't consider myself much of a "memoir reader", but every couple years there is one that knocks me off my feet.
You have to understand I love this lil rat more than anything and everyone else is in a very far 2nd place
so if I want to paint something transparent….I have to also paint what’s behind it….
I created a video for work that’s a compilation of quirky snippets from different people’s conversations, with the caption “overheard at the office” There’s negative comments now from people believing I was recording without permission?? 😭😭 capturing crisp audio through walls????
Trying to get through the big brain thinking part of this illustration plz pray for me
Finished my first semester of teaching (and likely last for a long while due to my schedule). I only cried twice during the last class, which is less than my initial projections. A win is a win.
Where do you stop? We are all limited in some capacity. Time, money, resources, location, physical or mental ability, your own interests, and a capacity for dullness. What's important is we become the right artist for our stories, no matter the technical skill.
Art block is just lack of joy. Focus on what you like, deeply understand what you don’t like (and others enjoy!) This is where your voice emerges, as a creative. This is essential for long term projects, where you will be the only person who cares for months and years.
How we all create art and find meaning in it is as unique as a fingerprint. In visual art, that fingerprint impression is called having "a style". It develops in 3 parts: 1) your influences 2) what you enjoy 3) your special brand of laziness
"How do I find my art style?" I've been a creative pro for 10 years, this is the number 1 question I get. They want creative work to be recognizably theirs in an instant-- like Miyazaki or Wes Anderson movies. This is the formula for art style, it's much simpler than you think.
Blacked out and now my presentation for tomorrow’s workshop is over 100+ slides long (not including the videos and PDFs I link out to) I’m at my most powerful
Tried frieren trend angle after appreciating posts all week. Very humbling.
pov: you finally get the greenlight to post what you illustrated for a major IP
How did I used to read hundreds of pages a day as a teenager 😭 just BURNED through fantasy books. I am using absolutely all my willpower to get through these 200 pages before book club tomorrow.
