Happy birthday, #PearlSBuck! Her novel East Wind: West Wind was one of the very first adult books I read as a teenager. Books like this ensured I remained a reader as I moved away from the excellent children's books which still shape me.

Morning: Walked up Ormond Hill, site of Andrew de Moray's Castle, where the Northern Rising of 1297 started with people from NOSAS, the North of Scotland Archaeology Society. Evening: I did the same again with Avoch Cubs for their local history badge. I read from To War with Wallace on both walks.
Day in the life of a children's author: *gather props/author copy of book *tidy lounge for virtual school visit *balance computer on stack of boardgames *do actual author visit (1 hr/virtual) *phone call re another event *food shop *emails/admin *finish and submit feature article for newspaper
Problem: looming article deadline. Solution: take myself off to local theatre, sit on 2nd floor and write. New problem: distracted by view.
