Child of God, husband, dad, pastor. In that order. Also a sports fan & card collector. Love the Cardinals, especially the 1985 team! And the reason I’m here is pretty much just for #CardSky. Built 1956 Topps set. Now working on 1975 Topps.
Added 10 more to my ever-growing 1985 Topps Willie McGee #OneCardCollection, as well as a handful of cards for my 1975 Topps set build! #TheHobby #CardSky
Picked up a 1971 Topps Super Bob Gibson (didn’t even know such a thing existed) and a bunch of goodies from the dime box at the LCS today. #CardSky
Always fun poking through the dime box at the LCS. 10 cents is not a bad price for a beloved childhood memory! #CardSky
Looks like they’re both just plain old Topps, unless I’m missing something. Why do you ask?
That is fabulous! As a kid growing up in St. Louis, I was a huge Bob Forsch fan, and by extension was a Ken Forsch fan too!
Not a big collector of anything current (give me vintage!), but I decided to pick up these two when I saw them. JJ is going to be so good, and Jordan has steadfastly been my guy since he first arrived in MLB! #StLCards
Have been neglecting BlueSky for awhile. Need to get active again to keep up with all the great folks over here! To celebrate the All-Star break, I’ll share what is forever sure to be one of the greatest snubs in All Star history: Richie Zisk getting robbed of his All-Star shield in 1978 Topps…
100 years ago today, perhaps the greatest pitcher who ever lived began his career, as Leroy “Satchel” Paige took the mound for the first time as a professional baseball player. (HT: @markarmour04.bsky.social)
Beautiful! I’m presently working on that set too. In fact, just got a bunch of cards in the mail today from @splitseason1981.bsky.social’s friend, Jimmy! Thanks for the introduction, Jeff!
So thankful for this #TTMsuccess from the 101-year old Rev. Bill Greason. He’s the oldest living former MLB player and the last remaining player from the Negro Leagues. He was also kind enough to answer my questions on best player (Willie Mays) & favorite Bible verse (John 3:16).
Thanks so much to @kujhawk90.bsky.social for the RAK to help out with my 1975 Topps set build! #CardSky
Thanks so much to @splitseason1981.bsky.social for hooking me up with a reasonably priced starter set to get me really going on my 1975 Topps set build!
They just played “We Are Family,” and now they follow it up with “Celebration.” It must be a special “world championship baseball team theme song” episode. #1979Pirates #1982Cardinals
For so many reasons, I absolutely love this card. And I’m totally okay with being the only person for whom that’s true.
Got another lot of 16 for my 1985 Topps #757 Willie McGee #OneCardCollection!#CardSky
Starting my 1975 Topps set build, and hadn’t realized I already have this beauty. #FiredUp
Picked up this matted pic of Satchel Paige from the Hall of Fame. Looking forward to finding the right spot for it!
My Ted Williams card is in a slab, so I’ve got the Archives card as a placeholder, but here is my 1956 Topps binder. I still can’t believe this actually happened. Adolescent Pete would be awed. Next project: 1975 Topps.
Found one at a price I liked, and with that, I now have officially completed my 1956 Topps set build! Frankly, I can’t believe this is a reality, and will be sharing some more thoughts in the future. For now though, thanks so much to everyone who helped make this dream come true!
#MailDay: Added this one today to complete (I think) my subset of 1975-76 Topps cards including the ABA’s Spirits of St. Louis. Bob Costas would no doubt approve! Looking forward to checking out Soul Power on Prime Video. I’ve heard great things about it.
Picked up an item for my Webster Groves High School alumni collection: an autographed index card from Bud Byerly (class of 1939). 🎩🧡🖤⚾️
I love the jumbo cards!!! Built a few sets, and got a jumbo 85 Topps signed by Ryne Sandberg a few years back.
Fun mail day: -An unexpected old TTM request from 1980s Cardinals closer Todd Worrell. -A 1947 Dell MLB season preview with Stan the Man on the front and Flint native Sophie Kurys of the AAGPBL on the back. -A lot to add to my 1985 Topps Willie McGee card 757 #OneCardCollection.
Happy birthday to a certain minor league baseball player that I drove all the way to Birmingham to see play back in 1994…
Saw that Roy Face died yesterday at the age of 97. “The Baron of the Bullpen,” Face was one of the first great relievers who (along with Hoyt Wilhelm) pioneered the role of bullpen closers in the 1950s & 60s. Thankful to have had him sign this card a few years back. RIP.
