"The driver of global temperatures is human-caused climate change...the rise of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere, sinking into the atmosphere. El Niño will raise global temperatures, but the main cause is global climate change." - @zacklabe.com
One last note from @zacklabe.com's Climate Monthly Briefing: Global ocean temps in June were the HIGHEST on record. Every ocean basin experienced unusual heat made more likely by human-caused climate change. 85% of Marine Heat Waves would NOT have occurred w/out an influence of climate change
How is the global temperature faring through the first 6 months of 2026? This was the SECOND hottest start to the year for the United States. Find more visuals & check the data from @climatecentral.org for June 2026 ➡️ www.climatecentral.org/climate-brie...
Happening Now: @zacklabe.com is detailing how June played out globally. June 2026 was: - the second warmest globally (land + ocean) - 4th warmest for land temperatures - ALL-TIME WARMEST across the planet's ocean basins
7:15am Radar: Heavy rain continues to fall over this Flood Warned areas in and around Uvalde County. Rain continues to fall at a fast rate of 1" to 3" /hr. Locations that will experience flooding: Uvalde, Sabinal, Concan, Knippa, Garner State Park, Utopia
Flood Warnings and water rescues continue Uvalde County. 6" to 16"+ of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours. Bulk of this rain is centered between Utopia & Uvalde #txwx
Not perfect, but a view for what radar could look like as our next round of rain & storms turns on overnight as dynamics kick on & more EXCEPTIONALLY moist air is pulled into this weather maker. Heavy round of rain possible for the Brazos Valley by Wednesday afternoon #txwx
Comstock, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Brackettville, Concan, Uvalde, Hondo, Sabinal, Leakey -- HIGH RISK (4 out of 4) remains in place WEDNESDAY. Over the next 24hrs, an additional 6" to 12" of rain is possible. Worth watching trends to see if this threat doesn't shift a bit further north #txwx /1
Buckets of rain for parts of South Texas over the next 24-48 hours. #txwx Here's the pieces of what led to the HIGH Risk for excessive rainfall (aka high flood risk) to be issued
It's hot. Like, all-time record-breaking hot for a lot of us in the US 🎧 So @tdiliberto.bsky.social & I made a bonus @climatecentral.org [microclimate] Curiously Climate about it. Sweat & stream ⤵️ 🟢Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/3l7h... 🔴YouTube: open.spotify.com/episode/3l7h...
South Texas Excessive Rainfall risk has been UPGRADED to a HIGH -- 4 our of 4 -- by the Weather Prediction Center. This includes Medina, Sabinal, Hondo, Uvalde, Concan, Leakey, Brackettville, & Del Rio. "Significant to locally catastrophic flash flooding is forecast to continue..." #txwx
Why? Stalled front to the north (south of a historic area of high pressure) + a weak weather system stuck spinning. Moisture is pooling from a warmer-than-average Gulf for mid-July. Warmer ocean -> more evaporation -> atmosphere that can hold more rain water -> heavier rain/bigger flood potential.
💧Reminder: Rain doesn't always come easy for this part of Texas, but when it falls -- it is falling harder. Over the last 50-55yrs, rainfall rates (how fast it is falling from the sky) has increased between 5% to 30%. More rain. All at once. Collecting/rushing to get downstream /3
Weather Prediction Center has a static 3 out of 4 -- MODERATE -- Risk for Excessive Rainfall (flooding) over Southwest Texas along & South of I-10, due to "An incredibly active period on tap across the Lone Star State" Forecast data suggests another FOOT+ of rain possible Tuesday & overnight /2
Flooding is ongoing in Texas, west of San Antonio in/around Uvalde, Sabinal, Concan, Medina, and Hondo. As much as 7" to 12" of rain is estimated by radar Monday night ➡️ Tuesday morning. A Civil Emergency Message has been issued because of high water in Medina County. More is expected...🧵/1
Parts of South Texas are outlined in a 3 out of 4 -- MODERATE -- risk for Excessive Rainfall both Tuesday AND Wednesday. Potential for localized 12" to 24"+ of rain showing up on Monday night's hi-res forecast models. A day to be weather aware for Texans west & south of I-10 #txwx
🔴 CLIMATE CONTEXT: Today's records didn't fall by chance. For the northern tier, the fingerprint is strong. For MT, WY, UT, and CO specifically—this kind of excessive mid-July heat would be nearly impossible without heat-trapping pollution. (Data: @climatecentral.org's Climate Shift Index)
Record-breaking day of heat across the Northern US & down either side of the Rocky Mountains. Highs between 100° & 110° -- some 15° to 20° above average -- replacing the daily, monthly, and all-time heat of record. More daily records expected again Monday in these same locations.

Let this SINK in... ...the Gulf of Mexico is straight up sweating right now. At it's hottest in at least 40 years...it ain't because it's having a midlife crisis either.
Significant summer rain falling in Walker & San Jacinto Counties this afternoon/evening. Radar estimates of 2.5" to 3" of rain over a short, few hours left behind as storms move south & call it quits for the day #txwx

FIFA is between a rock -- climate change -- and a hard place -- summer weather -- for the July 4th match in Philly between #France & #Paraguay #WorldCup #FIFAWorldCup #FIFAWorldCup2026
As the iconic tour begins, cyclists will be peddling through conditions that would be almost impossible to occur if not for climate change. @climatecentral.org's #ClimateShiftIndex shows this exceptional July heat maxes out the scale due to the effects of heat-trapping pollution
Hottest day in NYC in a (literally hot) second. Days like today aren't a one-off or rare anymore...
