The diagonal seams were first introduced in Arial Shaw’s dress uniform. It appeared on the duty uniforms in season 2. Then became the standard on the 3rd season nylon uniforms. You can sorta make out the diagonal seams on Uhura’s uniform here next to a season 1 dress without it (on the extra).
In comparing TNG's pilot and finale, it's impossible to call Farpoint anything but cinematic while AGT is very clearly a TV production. The most obvious difference is the 21st C courtroom which is dynamic and grimy in Farpoint and clean and flatly lit in AGT. Though, we kind of dig Q's new throne.
William Shatner did not get tinnitus dodging explosions so you could tell us that AI is inevitable.

This episode is problematic, to say the least. But Sandra Smith does make for a great Captain Kirk trapped in another’s body. She exudes the same commanding energy in the role as Shatner. She makes us believe Kirk is inside there. And Shatner relishes the camp drag of Lester in Kirk’s body.
