Reintroducing Scall, my other sona! I had adopted the initial character design from @/hr-bananabird last year. It’s great to now have a full refsheet for this heckin bad boy. 🎨 by the amazing @kofeeo.bsky.social

Kofee, an veery thrush bird gal, and Isla, an eastern screen owl girl, sit around a cafe table with treats. They’re stunned listening to their friend Ziggy, an anthro steller’s jay owl girl. She herself is grinning as she talks, as her friends listen in intently.

The sad part at the end, though, is that Aether Studios has had to layoff part of the studio. A real shame. All of them helped bring the game to life. I hope Rivals can turn it around this year, as any success it finds helps artists succeed too. #rivalsofaether2 #rivals2

Unfortunately it means that we have to reduce our team size in order to continue development in 2026. Last week we informed the team that we would be letting go of 8 developers across multiple disciplines, which make up a quarter of our studio. This includes SBS, our Senior Community Manager, Walz, one of our Game Programmers, Garrett, our Senior Concept Artist, Irina, our Junior 3D Artist, Luke, our Junior 3D Animator, Jasmine, our UI Programmer, and more.

We didn't want to let go of any of these team members as they have all done amazing work and been fantastic to work with. If our plans pay off, we'd like to bring as many of them back later this year as we can. If you work in the industry and have any openings, then please reach out to me or the team members.

Man, @retrogamecorps.com reviews are too fun & too tempting. I got one Android-based handheld delivered today, the Mangmi Air X. Excited to emulate retro games on it. In the age of bulky & heavy handhelds, it’s real nice it is to have a lightweight, compact form factor.

It is 100% witch hunting. Case in point: We have people trying to repost & resurface old company messages (from 2024!) in order to ride the current outrage. Accounts that are more interested in farming rage in confusion. And sadly, it works. Rage spreads far too fast.
