Eternal. #Photography This legendary beauty is an ancient bristlecone pine, which are among the oldest trees in the world, some exceeding 4,000 years of age.
The eggs still look good! I think they should, hopefully, hatch in about a week. 🤞🙏
Here's a few other shots of painted buntings that I've recently taken. 🔴🟢🔵
I will never tire of spending time around these little goobers. Their songs and personalities are adorable. #Photography #BirdOfTheDay #Birds
There isn't much better than being in the presence of nature that makes you feel small.
A moment of zen from atop the Appalachian trail in North Carolina's Nantahala National Forest.
Was photographing this white pelican when a great egret showed up and switched into ~ 𝘓 𝘖 𝘕 𝘎 ~ mode. #Birds
We're facing a significant severe thunderstorm right now, with intense wind gusts. I went out in it to check on the nest, and mom is holding down the fort. Hoping for the best, the worst of the storm is about to hit. 😭🙏
Throwback to years ago when I was (very slightly) dumber and made these, which fired some 1,000 roman candle shots from my arms in around 45 seconds, plus a 3" mortar at the end. 🎆
I hide at home with Chaser from the 4th of July fireworks, so I will re-share my favorite fireworks photo, taken at the St. Louis Arch. Random aside: the Oklahoma state fair judge(s) thought this was a digitally-altered photo (it isn't) and removed it from its category. 🙄
IMPORTANT: we've got four scissortail eggs!! Wishing them well, I can't wait to meet them. 🥹
An adorable painted bunting snacking on some seeds. #Photography #Birds
While walking through the woods at sunset, this little sweetie popped right out, walked the trail for a bit without a care in the world, then got curious and stopped two feet in front of me to look up at me for a bit before carrying on. I love them so much. #Photography
This series shows the belted kingfisher hovering over the water, breaching the water after a dive, then flying back up for another round. Not my best bird photos since I don't have the right gear for detail at distance, but still some neat action shots of it living up to its name! #Birds
A belted kingfisher holds her meal in the pouring rain. It was such a treat watching her repeatedly divebombing into the water throughout her hunt. Also, fun fact: unlike many birds, female kingfishers are more colorful than males. #Photography #Birds
Y'all are going to get daily scissortail updates whether you like it or not.
Excited to find that a pair of scissor-tailed flycatchers is currently building a nest where I live! Hoping to see some baby scissortails soon! 🥹🤞
