It has been one year since the federal government deployed the national guard to DC under the guise of a “crime emergency” despite violent crime in DC hitting a 30-year low. It quickly became clear that the federal takeover was, in part, intended to intimidate, harass, and arrest immigrants.

This Trans Day of Visibility, we’re celebrating Kumi Yokoyama, a champion and history-maker in more ways than one. Thank you, Kumi, for your time with the Spirit and for living your truth! Trans people belong everywhere, on and off the pitch.
