Last week I attempted the political equivalent of Supermarket Sweep. No inflatable trolley (sadly!). Just a lot of miles, plenty of supermarkets, and hundreds of chats. Thanks to everyone who stopped for a chat, raised issues with me, or simply waved 👋

A cheaper ticket won't help if the bus never comes 🚍🤷‍♂️ Cheaper fares are great news, but for too many people across North Norfolk, the problem isn't price - it's that the bus doesn't show up. Let's cap fares AND enhance rural services to help connect communities.

🗣 Poor public transport connectivity is a major barrier to employment and opportunity. Rural Britain can't be left behind any longer. No one should miss out on work, education or healthcare because they can't get from A to B.

🚂 It's Choo-choo-esday, so I'd be remiss not to share this today... It was a pleasure to see 103yo N2 Steam Locomotive No. 1744, the oldest surviving Sir Nigel Gresley designed engine, back in action at Sheringham after an incredible restoration. Well done to all involved 👏

🚨 U-turn! The Govt has dropped plans to move Coastguard Rescue Officers to an expenses-only model. I opposed these plans because our Coastguard Rescue Officers deserve better. Huge win for everyone who campaigned, spoke out & refused to accept this bad decision 🎉

If millions of people live in coastal communities... ...why doesn't Government have a dedicated Minister whose job it is to fight for them every single day? 🔊 I told @lbc why I think that should change.

Britain is an island 🇬🇧 So why don't we have a Coastal Minister? Today, I've written to the incoming PM repeating my calls for one who can fight for the investment, jobs & opportunities our coastal communities deserve. It's time the coast had a voice at the heart of Government.

This isn't 'people vs the establishment'. It's accountability vs distraction. When you're under scrutiny, changing the channel doesn't make the problem go away. Clacton deserves better than political theatre.

Funny, isn't it? I say North Norfolk deserves better rural buses. Others rush to explain why we should be satisfied with what we've got. I'll be clear: I'll never stop pushing for better rural bus services. It's what residents deserve & it's what our local economy needs.
