Our drought has been going on for so long we are now in an area extremely likely to be a fire hazard if anything ignites.
This evening our hungry hedgehog drought restaurant has 2 patrons. One even wore a dead leaf fascinator for the occasion. Though she shed it half way through her meal.
Just to say drought hungry hedgehogs are noisy eaters but still very adorable. Though you wouldn’t want to cuddle them!!
Inca is a diligent observational entomologist. Today it is a small worker bumblebee who’s busy amongst thyme flowers
A very hot day in July I visit Blarney Castle and gardens not to kiss the stone but to view their valley of tree ferns. Renowned plants person Hester Forde strongly recommended that I go. A very impressive collection of towering tree ferns.
Someone got over enthusiastic about getting on quad and got awkwardly stuck much to Java’s amusement. I’m watering young trees and recently transplanted ferns in the woods
This evening as I checked sheep, I picked up other people’s rubbish in our fields. Today was wine bottles, beer cans and plastic water bottles. The loppers are mine🙃
Scabious season is upon us. I love this wild native almost as much as our native pollinators
Sorry I’ve been absent from here. I couldn’t figure out how to get back when I got cut out. Our wildflower area is alive with bees butteries and grasshoppers.
Evidence of a hawk or kestrel who managed to kill a wood pigeon in our woods.
An evening stroll to look at the boys. All seems well until spicy Mustard takes a swipe at me. Born wild then rescued by me so still has a spicy streak in him
A damp morning in the garden. The heritage gladiolus are nearly over but still giving pleasure. I love the astilbe as they’re coming into peak bloom. They also give me fond memories of my grandmother who loved them.
Oh Bugger AND Blast!! Not only have I finished another good murder mystery book but it’s last in a series. Hopefully Jane Casey shall release her next book in the Maeve Kerrigan series soon. I’ve had to have some ice cream to placate myself. A scoop each of Rum raisin&pistachio
I had to do a selfie with these foxgloves. They’re soooo tall!!! Taller than meeee. And beautiful field orchids. #wildflowers
I could well be wrong but I think this might be a tree bumblebee. It’s very small, fits easily inside this buttercup flower. Otherwise it might be a type of hoverfly
A second hand deep blue Debby tea pot on line😳they’re soooooo crazy expensive!! It’s not even the blue that l loved and it looks like the lid doesn’t even match😭
Absolutely devastated!!! My favourite teapot shattered into a thousand pieces!!!😭 DOGS!!!!!🤬 Who would have them!!!😡 My language would’ve made a merchent seaman blush. Hence dogs have scattered and now watch me worried. So many needle like shards to be swept up.
This morning about 6:15 fed my flock on another farm for a shearing day event. It was very strange to drive onto this camping farm. I drove past countless tents full of families asleep. Evidence of many humans but not a single person seen. Yesterday it was teeming with people
Ladies Smock/Cuckoo flower is very prolific this year. Great news for the orange tip butterfly. #wildflower
My 5am alarm sounding off. I still haven’t managed to find a snooze button or even the off switch
Love this dog wood. I planted it 3 years ago. I’m soooo looking forward to it maturing into a small tree that cascades its colourful bracts
A low hanging branch creates an illusion that my ladies mantle is blooming pink flowers.
I love how these ewes love this particular tree as a hiding place for themselves and their lambs. Thankfully all is well this morning
Ewes with single lambs have tucked themselves in under this scrub plum, out of the rain. A black bird must be nesting in this tree as she is very agitated by my presence.
