takeaways from the Variety article: ~ these look like they would be very fun and easy to texture mod ~ new heads kinda look similar to Norrath's Gnolls/Kobolds? which makes this great for a playable Gnoll or Kobold character texture swap if they dont end up adding them to the game officially
on the left are some of my iterations of Kerran retextures / working with the old weird UVs after the new model reveal i decided "screw it i can just fix the UVs and it will probably be a close approximation to the new models" so i did that on the right
also these jaw UVs which tbh are pretty rough lmao. these ones are very hard to fix via retexturing without significantly changing the fur pattern, it kinda works but its p weird i do think its possible to fix this with some reimagining of the texture map but ideally the devs would just fix the UVs
noticed a chest seam on the EverQuest Kerran model. while this is technically a UV issue it can actually be fixed texturally! all that has to be done is take the rightmost 2 columns of pixels and copy them to the far left of the texture, easy peasy wonder if the devs will fix this before launch?
also im incredibly excited for playable Kerrans at launch and will 100% be maining one at the start ill probably also be looking at their textures and making some tweaks so i can have some cute makeup for her ^w^
EQLegends Beta ending today so im posting random pics and vids and sharing thoughts until the release next week overall i think its a step in the right direction, huge QoL improvements from EQLive and really fun for a 25-year casual player also showing off my custom textures yay
a fellow enchanter girl hung out with me for a bit without saying anything, tried to impress her by turning into a building but she ran off ;~;
lmao this is such a WILD thing to see when opening a project for the first time in 7 years
i am terrified of watching anyone play this game but reading the comments on a playthrough of it i actually found that most of them brought me joy and seemed genuinely appreciative on some level so id like to share my favorites as an act of self-indulgence / if anyone needs to be sold on it :>
even just going through my old screenshots folder theres a lot about this game i forgot been scared to revisit cause i was obviously not in a great place when i made it, but id really like to do a deep-dive postmortem of sorts someday fame is "for Give": thanaorchard.itch.io/for-give
finally messing around in Unreal Editor 2 so i can make Unreal Tournament maps
dont wanna spoil much but im finally making progress on the HBI set i started over 2 years ago now that i have time 😭 2-ish out of 5 videos are done, the last 3 are prolly gonna lean more towards visualizers cause i want this set to actually get finished this time lmao
saved this pic bc i like the interesting triangle shapes in the bg cant tell if its artifacting or something related to the game but i like it, kinda looks like hearts from a distance
happy #TransDayofVisibility everyone~ im Thana Orchard, a nonbinary plural artist making games since 2013 and music since 2007, im tired ! mostly looking to build community and meet folks interested in odd lo-fi styles and mechanics you can find me on itch + bandcamp + youtube ^w^ #TDoV #gamedev
thought i was tripping and hallucinating smear frames in my supposedly 2-frame walk cycle placeholder when i brought it into Godot (its very clearly a stepped animation in Blender) decided to record the walk cycle out of curiosity and LOOK AT THEIR FEET GOOOOO
been meaning to share more stuff here but a lot of it isnt ready yet 😈 so heres a couple snippets of what im up to
working on a set and im finally doing a music video for this song from Thanatome Hivemine made with a mix of Kid Chameleon modding, Blender cloth sim stuff, and one of my old Twitter clips i made in Unity (i should repost those here at some point)
just beat the Gothic Remake demo (Nyra's Prologue), guess ill share my thoughts as someone who still plays the 2001 original after 20+ years summary: characters and music are both great and true to the original, Unreal engine games almost always look bad to me, feels clunky but so was the original
with my current workflow i can do hair (and eventually skin) recolors relatively easily. im working away from in-engine material recolors since i dont have as much control over undertones and this allows me to have a more defined color palette to work with in a project
updated the hair placeholder textures, finally figured out a decent Krita workflow with my tablet
havent posted these here yet, some level ideas i made in 2022 the ones on the right were meant to be a part of a "demo level" swap that creates an infinite loop. while its possible they didnt look as cool as i thought in game so i scrapped them
wow i think i just solved a longtime mystery i couldnt figure out in Kid Chameleon? messing around with modding the wall music speed, at first i thought nothing was happening but then after i grab a helmet it GOES NUTS at 375 bpm apparently some music speed bugs involve helmets so makes sense?
one more, this one has a hilarious sound glitch @ 17 seconds the glitch square enemy is a corrupted cloud enemy, the walkers are corrupted robots glitched to look like aliens i love how you just cant really tell what anything is and all the tiles are glitched, its very chaotic
