Looking at the Table of Contents is oddly familiar; games, articles, reviews, regular features. While much has changed in the hobby, one things magazines give me is a sense of continuity, a through-line of what has remained important to gamers over time.

Morning! How about we start the week with another classic TTRPG magazine from my collection? This is Issue #1, Aug/Sept 1983, of Fantasy Gamer from Steve Jackson Games. It started as a bimonthly, and I was lucky enough to find the first year of issues at a garage sale in great condition.

Why don't we start with the magazine that started it all? This was one of the first Dragon Magazine issues the library in Fort McMurray got in, and the first one I ever read. This is from April 1981, seven months after I played D&D for the first time.

Let's take a little tour of The Hearth Magazine #1 via the Table of Contents, shall we? First up, the Features section. That's where you'll find articles from our contributors each issue, selected from pitch submissions. I posted about our contributors before so I'll link to that below.
