A close friend in Maine, knowing my penchant for birds, mentioned the #Merlin app. Not one for apps, but this helps ID birds by chirps + calls, even if I do not see them through the trees. A few unexpected today: Purple Martin, Red-winged Blackbird + a heron that flew overhead that didn't register.
