Why doesn’t everyone make this stuff? Just like. Go grab some Nat Geos and cut.
I began collaging tonight for the first time, and this felt great (?), appropriate (?) Either way, it was a fun first foray.
Following up here that I picked up a super cool-looking tarot deck that playdatewiththeuniverse.com collaged! Wildly neat visuals. Excited to jump in.
While at Half Price Books yesterday, I had the idea that some people grabbing Metal Scraps might not have ever junk journaled. So I grabbed a few Nat Geos (from 1988-2019) and started finding and cutting out fun pictures that I’m sending along to each backer to get them started!
Five years ago, I received Lighthouse at the Edge of the Universe by @lostwaysclub.itch.io. Tonight, I sat down with the postcard that came with it: A Light in the Dark Let me tell you how surprisingly reflective, introspective, and delightful this postcard is. Play over several nights if you can.
When I tell you I have 300 other things to do rather than mock up a 4.75x4.75” cover for this thing.
@junkfoodgames.bsky.social Chris! What a trip this was. Thank you.
My Gen Con purchases were exactly of the size, scope, and caliber I wanted them to be. Thanks @moreblueberries.bsky.social @vidityavoleti.bsky.social @gilarpgs.bsky.social @goosepoopgames.com @residentbard.bsky.social @brightbard.bsky.social for all the future joy.
And before the @buriedgiantstudios.bsky.social panel last night, Drew had this album blaring, and it is a VIBE AND A HALF.
Later Gen Con! It was a great, whirlwind of a time full of game design chats. Lots of exciting opportunities coming up. 🤞🏼 After 7 years away, it was nice seeing so many longtime friends again and then meeting in person so many new ones! ✌🏼
Well, and, I have devised an assortment of ridiculousness to bring to #GenCon. Note that I am not at a booth nor selling these; I will only have a few copies, and I am only around Friday and Saturday. Info following for What the Cluck?, 25 copies of Close Encounters, business cards, and stickers.
Some friends surprised me with an enormous sparkler of a piece of pie for an early birthday. I now love this picture.
Kinda cool seeing your project big and bold on the front page of backerkit.com! Thanks @backerkit.com for highlighting my little zine.
Here are a few of my favorites both within and adjacent to this space. These are books that give feelings of hope and nature and interconnectedness. Missing is Richard Powers’ Overstory, an incredible book currently leant out to a dear friend.
Metal Scraps Covered in Moss is live for 7 days. A solo, junk journaling RPG zine played over 10 in-person days. Collect scraps from your "real life" to later chronicle as a Reclamator discovering the What Once Was. For fans of solarpunk, hopecore, and noticing. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/p...
Listening to Sigur Rós’ ÁTTA while practicing lines to get better at drawing is some lower level of transcendence.
Several years ago I made a 20-minute one-page solo “game” of observing and reflecting on others in a crowded environment. I made it specifically for Gen Con. Since I’m returning this year, I’ve redesigned it to be a zine. Might print some copies to hand out to those who ask.
