@uglyducklingpresse
nonprofit publisher of experimental poetry, translation, performance, and the absurd // keeping poetry ugly for over 20 years
Taking inspiration from the music-infused spirit of spontaneity found within Steve Dalachinsky’s The Final Nite, join us for a night of open writing and listening at the UDP studio. uglyducklingpresse.org/event/open-s...
Applications open! UDP’s Apprenticeship Program provides a part-time (12 hours/week), fair-pay, work-learning opportunity to aspiring literary professionals interested in hands-on training in all aspects of running a small press. Find more info at uglyducklingpresse.org/about/opport...
In NETS, first published in 2004, Jen Bervin strips Shakespeare’s sonnets bare, showing that “the history of poetry is with us, pre-inscribed in the white of the page.” Help us reprint this classic title! Link in bio to donate.
Many of UDP’s beloved and best-selling titles are currently out of stock—and because of federal cuts, we haven’t been able to find the money in our budget to get them back into circulation. If you’re able, please consider donating to help reprint one or several of these titles. Link in bio!
On Sunday, January 18 from 7–9pm, we’re hosting an open studio for printing protest signs. We’ll have a few Provisional Presses set up, wood type available, and other supplies handy. Our Heidelberg will also be in use, printing a couple hundred signs to pass out at protests.
No one has ever been as thrilled by an annual report as we are with ours. Read it on our site as a pdf, or write us to get one in the mail. We did a lot in 2025, and this year we’re on track to publish and host and print even more. uglyducklingpresse.org/about/mission/ 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
