Reading through Uncanny X-Men every week since 03/2017 // // secret identity @scottowilliams.bsky.social
Facebook here to remind you that for some people, it doesn't take a lot to make them happy. And just... Just let them have it, I guess
Groat Chips™! Real Cheap! Real Bad! Available at the worst supermarket in your town!
Fun fact, Joe Casey was having Wolverine smoke in Uncanny up to the very last moment Joe Quesada's ban went into effect resulting in this janky Logan face. In fact he was still left smoking on the credits page of that issue
A few months ago I commented thusly on an article by @nathanrabin.bsky.social about Date Movie (Rabin had mentioned Nolan for some reason or other)
I for one would love to hear more about Gambit's friend Thibodeaux. If I were writing him, he would always have some crazy story about that guy.
Question for anyone who, like me, was reading Marvel Comics in 2001-2: What are your memories of "'Nuff Said" month? Good, bad, indifferent? Fun gimmick, distraction? Any standouts?
Today in "Reading Chris Claremont X-Men comics can help you win Words With Friends"
I've covered over 500 comics for this project, and this is probably the most dire summary teaser I've ever read on Marvel Unlimited.
Did you know the song "Iris" was originally written for the movie GODZILLA (1998)? It's written from the perspective of the big lizard.
I know the cliche is that Claremont = overwrought narration = bad but I'm sorry, this is f*cking good prose.
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #41! The Prof is acting shadier than usual... 👀 uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/10/unca...
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #40 Alien Robot Frankenstein: you're either into it or you're not uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/10/unca...
(Canonically Jean designed them but why let that spoil the fun)
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #39! The X-Men defeat Factor Three (which is just two guys) and are rewarded with clothes... now if only thwarting real world villains was as easy as revealing them as cuttlefish from space. uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/10/unca...
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #38! For all the crap Roy Thomas rightly gets, the Factor Three cold war plot was one of the more interesting things going on in the X-Men's mid-60s stretch. uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/09/unca...
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #37! I think the purpose of Changeling's famously outrageous headgear is to read Xavier's mind, they just forgot to have him take it off. uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/09/unca...
They broach the topic of asking Warren's parents, but they're on vacation. Which also prevents them from getting welfare/a loan. Idk.
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #36! The X-Men need to get jobs to bankroll their trip to Europe, and end up thwarting a library-hating failson. uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/09/unca...
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #35! Yeah, yeah, that one panel is hilarious, I saw enough cheesy clickbait articles on it back in the day... But hey, we also get Banshee working as an auxiliary X-Man for the first time! uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/09/unca...
One sentence about every X-Men issue per day until I forget #34! Normally I complain when the X-Men are secondary to the guests, but we got a crazy amnesia plot and a SUBTERRANEAN MECH BATTLE out of it, so this is one of my faves. uncanny-xcerpts.blogspot.com/2017/09/unca...
