ICYMI, my 1996 Puncture feature on @prolapseband.bsky.social is on my lil website!! warpedrealitymagazine.com/2006/01/hell...
A few shots of the electric Providence ensemble Dakou Dakou last night at @as220.bsky.social.
My mom’s beautiful (and occasionally vengeful) kitty Lexy passed away today after a brief (but definitive) illness. She was a loyal and sweet companion. And I have never, ever seen a cat trounce my cat Max (who can be bully) more definitively than tiny but fierce Lexy. 💕
One more @gangoffour.bsky.social shot from last night. What a show. The quartet taking a bow at the end of the night. @gangoffour.bsky.social @tedleo.bsky.social
Last night was a fun exercise in a bit of nostalgia — the Human League, Marc salmons and Alison Moyet played the Wang Theater in Boston.
Downtown Providence! Murmur Hifi has landed. Imagine an exquisite space highlighting Japanese whisky, a concise selection of izakaya snacks, and an artfully curated selection of music. The listening room is unbelievable. I may just move in.
Decided to make the Pok Pok Isaac-style mushroom salad with aromatics but I was out of rice powder. So I turned this into a spicy chilled salad, totally vegan, with basil and cilantro, mushroom powder, zingy yuzu kosho and crushed marconas (not an Isaan ingredient but I wanted extra crunch).
Panicking about pretty much everything going on right now. Plus side: This salad I just made. Just tomatoes, red onion, sumac, sea salt, olive oil, toum and champagne vinegar.
The great @lupocitta.bsky.social (Chris Brokaw, Sarah Black, Jen Gorl) at Lost Bag in Providence. $500 and Exploding Zones opened & were both excellent. Worth motivating myself to go out on a Sunday night.
My friend Sally Young (Ut) is playing with her new band, the Whole Story — their debut! — at the 100 Club in London on June 27th with the great Swell Maps (!) and the equally stupendous Terry Edwards. Have a listen below and tix can be found here: www.the100club.co.uk/clubevents/s...
The new Mojo has a feature celebrating 40 years of Throwing Muses. Their debut re-ordered my DNA like no other. The UK music tabloids covered them w/breathless hyperbole mixed w/condescension & misogyny. Intense music was expected to fit neatly in a genre box—they created their own classification.✨
I get a lot of junk mail but this takes the cake — a fundraiser missive from TP USA. Check out this total 💩: “Capitalism is the most moral and proven economic system ever discovered.”
22 seconds of synchronized penguins from my visit yesterday to the zoo. ::breathe::
My house is overflowing with print media precisely because the internet does not support permanence. Capitalism is not made for anything other than stoking extractive impulse decision-making. Reading (and re-reading) is the opposite of that. RIP Maggot Brain; you were a signal flare of brilliance.
I love the Feelies. I wrote a little something trying (in vain) to explain how special they are! warpedrealitymagazine.com/2026/05/nigh...
From a brief interview with Elizabeth Kolbert, who writes so beautifully about how we are desecrating the environment. They asked her, basically, “How do you face the day?” “If you think of every species as an answer to the question, ‘How do you survive on planet earth?’ — that’s just amazing.”
John Waters by Peter Hujar. Year? Still a longhair so maybe 1973?
Hujar contact sheets, part 2: closeups! Including a very surprising one of Candy Darling laughing (this is from the very famous roll of films with her lying on a hospital bed in Cabrini Green, dying of lymphoma). The other portraits are, left too right: Peter Hujar, David Wojnarowicz & Joe Brainard.

Yves Klein blue saturating the stage at last night’s unbelievably great Feelies anniversary show at White Eagle Hall. Pictured (left to right): Glenn, Bill and Brenda on the front line; Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan @yolatengo.bsky.social guesting during the covers set.
