Dr Doom has an accent? I first "met" Doom in the 1970's, why did I never think of him as having an accent? Except maybe one of those most-sinister cultured English accents? (Thanks, Hollywood). I mean, my grandfather was Latverian* and he had an accent. *Okay, no, but he was Eastern-European.
I hold off on my first (of 2) coffees *until* 10 am! If I'm going to be addicted to a baked and crushed cherry pit, I'm going to do it on my terms! 😂
Maybe not "Multiversal Streaming" but still by far my favourite "Marvel Movie that theoretically exists somewhere in the Multiverse until DC wrecks it all with various multiverse-collapsing Infinity Crises."
This is France. Are there no Cuirassiers? Oh, the heat. Right, wouldn't be fair to the horses.
I hope we get an Encore of the half-time show during the break before Extra Time!
If you know me, you know I *hate* sacrificing elegance. I've got heaps of elegance!
Man. I wish I had a big pair of dusty Apocalypse goggles right now. You know. For the whole vibe we have going on.
The other half is "Movie Magic" of the times. Screen chain armour was normally wool spray-painted black then silver, and in order to signal to the audience that knights were knights, they often wear armour a lot. None with the debonair grace of Basil Rathbone, of course.
British TV did the same thing in the early 80's with Anthony Andrews playing the lead in The Scarlet Pimpernel and Ivanhoe--the latter starring Sam Neill as Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert, the villain of the piece.
Through clumsy misadventure (ie, usual routine) I somehow got a piece of deodorant stick in my mouth. I feel like I got caught swearing by Miss Annabelle, our Schoolmarm.
Musashi fought a (sword) duel with an oar. My barbarian fought with the manacles and dangling chains that once restrained him. I mean to the player it probably seems really cool. That's what works for me. (Comic by Kate Beaton)
I see your bet and raise you one Captain Avatar. (Who surely was one of Global's instructors back at Space Academy).
Because what goes around comes around, if you see this, share a circle, a disk, something round #desertcity
Apparently one's adventuring companions are diabolical sadists! (Rolemaster Unified--Cauterization (of wounds) Table:
Two more private rail-cars and I'll have one for every commonly used rail gauge. #OneThousandaire (Picture: JP Morgan's private car)
#ttrpg Second session of L5R5 finished--the Topaz Championship day 1 now complete and we've finished event 1 of the second day. Just a few left before the Iaijutsu showdowns on day 3. Running neither published adventure, as usual (my seventh or eighth time running it?) (Map by Francesca Baerald)
#boardgames A couple 3 player rounds of Space Base (Machikoro in Space) last night, a light game that I really enjoy. (Won one of the games).
Hollyhock Gods, what about Hollyhock Gods? (Thank you, Nobilis, for this GM-title gem).
I have watched some very good soccer over the last few days But the goal keeping during the Uruguay v Saudi Arabia match was incredible. Those guys really earned their quartered orange slices at half-time, I can assure you.
In George MacDonald Fraser's wonderful collection of post-war comedic tales The General Danced At Dawn (and the sequel, The Sheik and the Dustbin) the soldiers would frequently knock a ball about their North African post. "We're the wee puir lads!" Not really a Scottish supporter--but fun game.
