Partial book synopsis: “For the past two years, thirteen-year-old Luna Li’s family has been torn apart by her older sister’s death. While her mother becomes depressed and despondent, her father swings in the opposite direction, deciding to purchase a rumored-to-be-haunted fairground. When Luna and her best friend explore the empty fairgrounds, they come across strange, creaky rides and a mysterious pen found inside an old carnival tent. Luna pockets the pen and later discovers that her sketchbook contains an illustration of a mysterious boy she’s never met. Then her doorbell rings, and it’s the same boy… standing at her door. It seems as if, with this strange pen, Luna’s drawings have come to life. And when she draws what she wants the most—her sister back from the dead—everything spirals dangerously out of control.”
