Another must-read from @nigetassell.bsky.social I'm opening up a wing of the house library dedicated to his output. Opened the book randomly on this page today and pleased to know it's not just me that's always floored by the beginning of I Trawl The Megahertz. Strange, magnificent and timeless.
A quarter of the population still thinking "Yeah, more sleepless nights, wild fires, crop failures, general discomfort please so I can be a bit hotter."
#sheffield Legendary zine editor and author Tony Fletcher will be chatting with me in Kelham Island in a few months. POW! When UK Punk Went Pop, 1980-84 - a memoir by Tony Fletcher Date: Sep 17 • 19:00 www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pow-when-u...
I've been lucky enough to read a draft of Marco Pironni's forthcoming book. If, like me, The Ants were the band that made you fall in love with pop and changed your life forever, you won't be disappointed. It's brilliantly paced, funny, self-deprecating and lifts the lid on Marco's inner thoughts.
Gonna make this into a poster and put it up ahead of every future football tournament.
Chazza CD on the car stereo today... Juxtapose - by Tricky (with DJ Muggs and Grease) - 1999. Doesn't have the cohesion of sound that Maxinquaye has and keeps shifting its styles but it works. Tricky sounds inspired, a worthy addition to the glovebox. Fave tracks: Hot Like a Sauna / She Said
Didn't think I'd enjoy #parkrun this morning but managed to knock 20 seconds off my course PB. After the mad temperature at the run in Lucca last week I think I was just relieved not to be overheating. A bit of barcode scanning afterwards as my cool down 👍
In the best trattoria in Lucca - frequented by Oliver Stone and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Luckily I remembered to pack my shorts for #parkrun at Lucca. The only local alternative would have been these.
We had to say goodbye to Maisie today. She disappeared last weekend, after a day or 2 of being wobbly. She came back but she was in pain and there wasn't anything that could help her. So long, you were a magnificent moggy.
