Mostly watching films.
Just noticed I can buy the new Edward Burns film on PrimeVideo for a mere tenner. I can't wait to see the follow-up to Millers in Marriage and The Family McMullen. Burns is on a once-a-year hot streak since 2024. I mean how can I resist this poster:
My underrated / underseen Sam Neill films below. He turned up unexpectedly so often, not least playing João Havelange in United Passions... But like a lot of people my age, I watched the two part TV show Merlin a genuinely absurd amount of times in the late 1990s.
I was not expecting this two hours into The Cardinal...Otto Preminger always goes places. I have no idea how this film is going to end.
I find them genuinely hard to tell apart, fortunately Conway favours the thin moustache!
Basically, the script is anemic, it is blandly directed, has a couple of songs almost out of nowhere, but Ava Gardner absolutely blows the screen off. I love the film. I recognise it isn't what you'd call good. Again:
Are you busy at work today? Yes, I cannot possibly decide what I am going to buy, between all these:
A perfect Sunday morning film. Particularly if the only game you've ever played, computer or otherwise, is:
Of course, I would like the music, I am currently looking at this box set, on the other side of the room...which Amazon is selling for 460 quid! It might be moving from that shelf to the post office!
But all the compositions basically look like this. The man is a genius. The most neglected of the big Euro arthouse directors of the 70s through 90s.
