#FindsFriday as if they could ever get boar-ing… Today we have a Bronze Age boar's tusk probably excavated by William Cunnington in Upton Lovell, from an uncertain barrow.

Two boar tusks on a black background, there is a little bit of writing on both tusks. One has a number, the other has Upton Lovell written on it.

This #findsfriday is a a Late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axe head of the South Eastern plain type, found as part of a hoard of 10 axe heads near Manton Copse, Preshute in 1914. #ironage #axehead

This Friday’s #findsfriday we have a bone comb made from a piece of pelvis, with trimmed edges and smooth surfaces. On the lower side a hole has been drilled diagonally through the bone, probably for suspension and the teeth are sharply but irregularly cut, #bonecomb #allcannings #ironage

On #findsfriday today, dating from the 15th century, is the Lacock Cup is a silver-gilt drinking cup which has been owned by the Church of St. Cyriac in Lacock, Wiltshire, and thought to have been used by its congregation for over 400 years. #lacock #lacockcup

the Lacock Cup which is a silver-gilt drinking cup. It has a hemispherical silver bowl which attached to a trumpet-shaped foot. The bowl has a pointed lid which has a spherical knop on the top. A twisted ropework pattern appears at the base of the foot, on the top of the stem, around the rim of the bowl, and at the top of the knop.

Today's #FindsFriday is a Post-Medieval silver gilt jewellery fitting/devotional object, comprising 2 gilded & modified half-groats of Henry VIII.

A gold coloured Post-Medieval silver gilt jewellery fitting in a square shape. The edges are folded together to create a hollow lozenge bead. The fitting has initial prints and marks on both sides.

This #findsfriday we are bringing back a favourite from staff on display in our Roman Gallery. Found in Westbury Iron Works in the late 19th century, this potter spout froma vessel takes the form of an actor with a comic mask.

This #findsfriday we have 10 amber beads (oval) from a primary cremation in the bronze age bowl barrow, Amesbury G48, excavated by William Cunnington. These were found with a primary cremation in Bowl Barrow Amesbury G48 and are part of a small group which probably make up a necklace.
