'Gender conservatism perpetuates biological essentialism by naturalising gender as an innate sex/gender composite where feminine/subordinate/passive (gender) is an inherent biological property of females (sex), and masculine/dominant/active (gender) of males (sex).'
FAO @amnestyuk.bsky.social Extract: 'Introduction' to 'Sex, Gender Identity and Sport'. Opposition to over-writing sex with gender identity comes from across the political spectrum. Academic feminists on the political left are pro- not anti- rights. We argue for equal rights for female people.
Pleased to see a copy of 'Sex, Gender Identity and Sport' in the Olympic World Library. Thank goodness the @ioc now clearly supports female sport categories at Olympic level. Sex, gender identity and sport / ed. by Cathy Devine - Olympic World Library share.google/IbEUCOV88VST...
Another huge whopper of an untruth from @amnestyuk.bsky.social It claims the 'gender critical' organisations making up 51% of its sample are 'anti-rights'. Including: @labwomendec.bsky.social @filiacharity.bsky.social @womansplaceuk.bsky.social @forwomen.scot
Excellent scientific commentary by biologists correcting a number of myths about sex and sex development. www.uoaseen.nz/index.php/20...
'the words 'binary and immutable' is what we find most offensive' And there we have it. The whole of biology is transphobic. Ludicrous that these ideologues have been holding society to ransom for so long. What a waste of everyone's time and energy. For 1O+ years.
Oh dear. These deluded people have had a good run over the last 10 years or so. But this nonsense cannot be permitted to continue derailing the rights of women, lesbian & gay people and children.
13.136 'One of the aims of having separate-sex changing rooms is to safeguard women’s ability to access the facilities and use them safely. A woman is allowed to take her male child under the age of ten into the women’s changing room. This does not undermine the aim ...'.
Finally. Sport governance take note. 'Trans people should not be included in single-sex or separate-sex competitions for the sex with which they identify.' Is that now clear enough?
Why do you think it wouldn't? Otherwise you get this kind of thing: committees.parliament.uk/writtenevide...
You don't think there are real female athletes who could have represented their countries on the world stage if these three athletes had not stood on the Olympic podium?
A cheek swab is like a virginity test? Give over. Female athletes support sex screens for obvious reasons.
They were not deemed ineligible at the Atlanta Games. The ones with male advantage would be now.
They mostly had CAIS, PAIS or 5-ARD. The last two conditions involve testes not ovaries, testosterone in the male not female range & androgen sensitivity. Sex screening was abandoned against the wishes of female athletes.
Also that there is an exception re gender reassignment discrimination so that single sex services can be lawfully constituted.
Duncan is a slippery customer. Nobody says the NHS needs to 'move to all single sex wards' or that 'trans women' need to be placed in men's jails. Just that when a service, provision or sport is lawfully constituted as single sex, it must be just that, single sex.
The vast majority of female athletes support sex screening for obvious reasons. They were ignored when the androcentric sport establishment dispensed with sex screening in 1999 but have now, finally, been listened to.
So-called gender critical beliefs are legally protected as worthy of respect in a democratic society. They are:
Aiden's head is stuck firmly in the sand. People with trans identities are served very badly by this kind of nonsense. As is the whole of the political left. Time to drop gender identitarianism which has been propping up big pharma & neoliberal, individualistic capitalism & acknowledge reality.
Here's the HRA in 2021. Should the whole organisation recuse itself?
Here's @sonia-sodha.bsky.social with a fine list of questions for the @mhragovuk.bsky.social :
So what about Jonathan Fennelly-Barnwell who appears to be a trans activist & Deputy Director of Approvals at Health Research Authority when puberty blockers trial was approved. Now Interim Director. Should he have been recused from research involving puberty blockers? x.com/i/status/202...
Minister for Women & Equalities Bridget Phillipson: 'The Supreme Court ruling was crystal, crystal clear'. 'My message to employers ... is that they should understand the Supreme Court ruling and take action. They don't need to wait for the Code of Practice'. x.com/i/status/202...
