Did a thing this weekend — as in: Keynote on using comics in the classroom as the NCTE sponsored speaker for the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE), including a chance to do a book signing (with sketches)! Many thanks to NCTE and KATE.
Honored, excited, and host of emotions to share about my new book, out this week from NCTE. It has lesson ideas, literacy framing, interviews with authors and creators, student and teacher-created art, and more. I hope this inspires teachers, young creators, and many readers.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer, and I’m so glad to celebrate this book being released next week (4/2). What’s more, I get to share about comics creators I love, including interviews with many of them and descriptions of work from others. publicationsncte.org/content/book...

I was considering a “best of 2023” post, but I’ve been fortunate to talk with so many wonderful people on this project, that I’m sure I would leave someone out. Happy New Year and, in the world of shameless self-promotion, I hope you check out my new book (coming in February from NCTE)
Received my author copy of this today. Glad to be in the same table of contents as David Finch!
